The Greensburg High School Band, com- posed oi' 62 musicians, has had a very suc- cessful year. The following oflieers were elected at the beginning of this year: Ermil .ig , 2 Veena arg , TZQA Johnston, president. Dan Rawlins, vice presi- dent, Annette Oak, treasurerg Dick Reed. sec- retaryl and 'David Konzelman, captain. It is not easy to be a member of this or- ganization The training starts early. Sev- eral years are spent in grade school and they are admitted to the Senior Band only when they are good enough and when openings occur. Six seniors. who are in important positions. will graduate from the band this year. They are Einiil Johnston and Don Kutchback. who play trumpets, Jane Stout, a leader in the clarinet section. Shirley Konzelman and An- nette Oak playing alto and baritone saxa- phone respectively. who are both important leaders in the family. and Dan Rawlins. a strong member in the bass section.

Director: BPH I. Niles, Mlm! Zim For a money making project, the band sold Christmas candy. The two spring concerts were also a source of income. The money is used to purchase the new uniforms needed, Since the uniforms are expensive, a rotation system is used. The special activities this year included the Spring Concert. the National Music Week Concert in May. contest in April and the Good Neighbor Band Festival in April. The band made an invitational trip to Madison during the basketball season. They also provided the music for Baccalaureate and Commencement this year. A very important part of the band is the twirling ensemble made up of four senior girls, They are Jackie Adams, Mary Sue Weis- iier, Marilyn Moulton, and Sally Whitt-lxxw. Sally was drum majorette. They and the band have performed many special maneuvers for the fans at the football and basketball games.
