More than once their goal line stands in the vsanmg moments of the fourth quarter saved the day for the blue and white. Coach Jack Spencer developed the stiff forward wall which the enemy found almost invincible. At right end was lanky Jerrv Westhafer whose big hands enabled him to be an effective pass receiver as well as an all-round good man in breaking up plays. Next vias big Bob Marlovse right tack'e who used his 200 pounds to good advantage in holding up the right side of the line. Louis Wenning and Frank Manus alter- nated as right guard. In the final game of the year at Aurora Manus received a broken leg. Center Bob Platt showed superb ball-handling ability in addition to being a good defensive player.. Jack Hungerford and Jack Moore ably played left guard and tackle respectix ely. Maurice Vogel left end played the greater part of the season with a broken hand but next er- theless pulled down several passes and did most of the boot- ing. The 1947 gridiron squad laid the foundation for football in F. H. S. for future years. The acquisition of new material next year coupled with the seven returning regulars should make a very strong eleven but the deeds of this year s crew will not be quickly forgotten. arriify garfefgaf Varsity li:1sk11tl1:111 'N 'VI11rt111N11ll1 21 New 11 1 lolumhu S11m11ur Ru h11111 1 N111 11111111 North X1rn11n I 1wr11nr1hur1z nr 11 1rr1 H nu 11 1 I1urn1 C11nn1 r 1111 Ru h11111 C11nn1r 11 lfrankhn l ulumhu 1 1 1R1111 1111111 Shelhu 511111 on Ru h111l1 N111tl11n 11 T11urne1 tl 'w1ndcr11k Sundu kv Nurth N1rn11n ilurk 15111, 1 11111 I1111rn11 '111 1111 nn 1 11 1 Url 1 1 1 11 P1111t1N 111 NK 11111111111 N the1 111111111 t11 111 111111h Nt11111g111 th1111 the Jre N 1N1111 111111 h111 1111111111 them 'I'he1 1111t 11111 11111511 tht S11t11111111 11111111 t11 1 1 K1 1 11 N11111 11t t1111 11111N L11 11 N11 m111111g11 t11 111 111t th1ee 11th111 te11111N 1111 th1111 11111111 111 the 1111 t111tN th1 1111111N 1111111111111 111 11111 111 1111111 11 11111t1111 NK 11N 11111 1 Q1111 11NN N h 1 1 111111 10111 111111111 111 th1 111111e1111111 Xhclx th1 h1g1heNt N1I1CL1q-1-1 A1 H1111 11111N 11111111 th111 1JEN1 1111 111 N611 Xfcll 111 11 th 1 1 1' Q11 N N1't1111l11X 1 1111111111 11111111111 1 t 11111:h th1 1111111 m111 1111t Net the 11111'1 1111 1111: It 11111Nt 111 lQH'lGTl11J6liC1 th 1t 1t 1111N c'1m 11e1 11111 t 1 111111: 1 t N1h1111e 111 th1 h1N 1111 h1 N1h11111 I1 1111 11111 11 th1 111:h 1111111111 6dfHN 11h11h 1111 1111111N Nt11111g th1 1111 1N 11 1 8 t111f11 111th LdX1l6I1LL1JLll1I N111 1N1111 111 11111 11 11 1111 1 c1111 lN111111l11111 11t 1 11111111 111 11111 111111 N11111 Th1ee 11t11111111g 1ette1111111 131111 I1111111N Jlm 1 15111111 111111 I11h11 111111101 1111111111111 111th 111 N 1111111111N 111 1 KN 111 111111 131111 11111 111111 N 1 1 1 t1 11111111 111 hugzht 111111 N1111111 A1N11 C111 11111111 11111 1111 P11111111 1111111 11111 1N 1111111111 N Nt1t11t1N Q5 I 1 1111- 21 117 ' N 31.4 ZH 1' 26 39 s ' 1 16 6 S15 fir-11l11':1st111 22 :111 .' -I ,- f' - Il 1 5 :111 Q '- 29 22 11 ' - 49 2111 li: f'-111.
