taxued to a stop and who should I meet furst but the owner of tne aurlune Ronnue Foxx I stopped for a cup of coffee un the Aur Port Restaurant and was served by Ethel Good man She asked rre uf I knew AI Cowger owner of a great constructuon furm had lust funushed rebuuldung tne wall of Chuna I took a taxu to town and stopped at the T V statuon where Bob Bubughaus works now At least he s a happy rnan He started the new program Why and uts a great success Vurgunua Oborne us hus secretary Whule at the statuon I saw Dave Topper who has replaced George Gobel as the natuon s top T V comuc Dave was tellung me that thus statuon us set up on the famous Robert Oyler Plan Bobs the great genuus of televusuon technucuan work As I walked down the street I saw Pa s Plumbung Parlor owned by Pat Bussey Hes a whuz at plumbung Hus secretary us the former Shurley Kendall who contunued work after her marruage She told me that Bob Pamer us Professor of Marruage Relatuons un a gurl s school At the end of the street I notuced an unusual buuldung I duscovered that ut us the world s largest green house whuch us owned and operated by the world renown ho tuculturust E ue Azar He sad h t Bull Abbott was on another safaru to Bongo Bongo land un search of new exotuc plants I walked past the munucupal audutoruum and saw whe e two women are wrestlung for the champuonshup of the world They were Shurley Bunns and Joanne Sockwell world renown mat experts In the more exclusuve sectuon of the cuty us an exclu suve world famous dress shop owned by Gladys Martun and Pat Clark Theur chuef models are the fabulous Gunger Duxon and Dora Adams Gladys unformed me that Donna Moody the celebrated stage star has been marrted four tumes We then learned that Lous and Faye Boet ler were now modelung for Duor They al o saud that Faye and Lous had busuness unterests un Japan The next shop was Eunuces House of Beautuful Har Was I surprused to hear that Mona Burch dud haur of everyone who us anyone Whule I was there I learned that Evelyn Rununger operates a school of beauty and posture un Istanbul Next I stopped at the newspap r stand to read that Sue Carr wrutes the lonely hears column and she had much news of the former classmates She saud that Joyce and Beverly now operate a famous nursung home for ruch people only and theyre realy makung a fortune I was surprused to learn that Skup Myers was a Professor of Englush and has 'us wrut en hus fufth Englush textbook on spellung Pat Parks and Carol Raber had lunch wuth us and were quute enchanted about marrued lufe Pat us an X ray technucuan and Carol us a C PA They were tellung me that Peggy Stone and Brad Johnson are un Alaska teachung cheerung and football to the Eskumos I learned that Don Romesburg manufactures sleepung pulls and Bob Overholt us hs foreman Whule leafung through a newspaper I saw that the Prunce and Pruncess of Never Never Land are celebratmg theur twelfth annuversary Shes the former Alethea Steward In the paper was a two page ad for the York Company owned and operated by Tom York H us the greatest pauntung contractor un the world Whule I was there Luz Toms wufe dropped un Luz asked uf I had read about Sonny Stuenel the famous temperamental movue star who put Frank Suratra out of busuness I had dunner wuth a long tume fruend Louuse who us Mrs Chuck Wusor now and she fulled m wuth mor tudbuts about our classmates She was tellung me that Rock Graham us a bug Pentagon offucual but that Barbara stull us the pruncess at home I also learned that Vlary Brown us a travelung saleslady and doung wonderfully we at ut We drove out to he newer factory sectuon to see all the genuus of ndustry Dave Clark owns the More Stretch to the Inch Gurdle Factory He told me about Maruan Copen beung marrued to a hullbully star Next I saw another umposung factory Bull Beese never got tured of beung presudent He us the presudent of the Amalgamated Pull Co full dunners far people who dont have tume to eat Dorothy Butecofer us hus secretary but wull be fured uf she doesnt stop her chatterung The next factory manufactures bottle caps to take the place of lost ones It us owned and operated by Duane Moore and Duck Narrus and Oluve us the chuef book keeper Goung back unto town I stopped at Domokurs Deluca tessen to see Don and we had quute a chat He was tellung about Bull Landals ownung a gurls basketball team and I hear Betty Conley was the captaun of hus excellent team She told me that Don Kee who us un town on busuness rauses parsley on lower Slovobbua I was surprused to see Evelyn Doughty who us sull unmarrued she can t decude whuch one of the ruch hand som men to marry She told me about Bob Hughes makung a fortune from hus beautuful blue eyes Some dye manufacturer saw them made a dy and then hured Bob to advertuse ut In prtvate lufe Bob has be n marrued more than Tommy Manvulle he never dud learn to resust temptatuon Well I have one last classmate to see uts Jean Roush and Im havung lunch wuth her whule shes home on furlough She s marrued to a mussuonary and us teach Ing school un the Belguan Conga Jean asked about Sonya Burke and learned she stull was unmarrued and was recently named chaurman of the I am the duck common domestuc web footed short legged waterfowl but most umportant I was chosen as the symbol of the class of 55 to share theur honors uoys and embarrassing moments In T951 when tl ey were Freshmen I was cared for by Mr Wuse and Mr Hellman I picked Patrick Bussey as Presudent Peggy Stone as Vuce Presudent Bob Hughes as Secretary and Elizabeth Trupp as Treasurer At the Homecoming I hud un a ladies hat that I mistook for my nest and saw Faye Boettler and Bob Hughes enuoyung the honors of Freshman attendants I was thrulled to death when I brought my bull unto Student Council room and saw Brad Johnson representung my class On the football fueld Bob Hughes Brad Johnson Don Kee Duck Norris David Clark Bull Abbott Don Domokur and Duane Moore were preparing to take over posutuons on the Varsuty Squad The gurls were as actuve as the boys because Eluzabeth Trupp Evelyn Rununger Peggy Stone and Corunne Scott had been chosen as Reserve Cheer leaders A lot of thungs that could happen was when a Freshue was unutuated by the tradutuonal depantsung Everyone enuoys remembering those excutrng roller skat ung partues The end of a perfect furst year of hugh school was a class party held at Lake O Springs After my summer vacatuon I came back to fund that my Freshmen had grown quite a but and were guven the tutle of Sophomores They had bug plans to carry out so they ummeduately elected Lawrence Stuenel as President Shurley Kendall as Vuce Presudent Faye Boettler as Treasurer and Eunuce Dickerson as Secretary Th s happy class was under the watchful eye of Mr Clarke and Mr Pence The vouce of the class un the Student Councul was Shurley Kendall and Brad Johnson The Kung and Queen of 53 had the honor presence of Peggy Stone and Wallace Graham as theur Sophomore attendants About the middle of the year the class chose black and white as th ur colors and they offucually elected me as theur class emblem Near the end of the year I helped them select theur class rungs and they were really excuted about them Well ut was May agaun and I pre paued for my annual vacatuon I grabbed my sun glasses and shorts and started on my way I stopped at Myers Lake where the class was having theur class party and saud bon voyage to all After my vacatuon I reached GHS the following September I arruved un tume to hear the applause greet ung the newly elected Alfred Cowger as President Joyce Barbour as Secretary and Elizabeth Trup holding the class purse strings After the election of class offucers I got my taul up to the Student Council room to fund Joanne Sockwell Brad Johnson and Peggy Stone keep ung peace between the students and faculty Soon ut came time for the class to select a gurl and boy to serve the Kung and Queen of 54 and no other students could have fulled the uob as well as Elizabeth Trupp and Davud Clark Jean Roush gave a speech entutled Thus World Needs A Doctor un the annual Prunce of Peace contest and ame un thurd un the dustruct competutuon The Junuor Play Uncle Tom s Cabun wuth Lawrence Stuenel Wtdfdfbq takung the role of Uncle Tom brought one of the best and largest audiences to Greensburg that year The plays success was due to hard work of the durector Mr Guess Fay Boettler Shurley Kendall Lous Boettler Vurgunua Duxon lead the Varsity Football and Basketball cheers and Wulluam Beese Robert Pamer and Jean Roush were elected to the Natuonal Honor Socuety On June II the Junuor class sponsored the Junuor Senuor prom whuch was held at Shadysude Country Club Before I went on my vacatuon I stopped and thought of how much fun I had had funding ways to make money the candy partues the movues the play the partues and the prom The furst week of the Senuor year electuons were held Bull Beese was chosen as Commander un Chuef Brad Johnson as Veep Eluzabeth Trupp as the money keeper and Sue Carr as the record keeper Jean Roush was elected Edutor un Chuef of the yearbook and Pat Parks was named her assistant Betty Conley us s ull our Contact Gurl for the Beacon Journal Alfred Cowger was the edutor of the Pioneer Muss Patrick and Mr Kleckner were our class advisors Brad Johnson Alfred Cowger Peggy Stone and Jean Roush were the class representa tives to the school government Wallace Graham and Brad Johnson were co captauns of the furst football team to wun a champuon shup un I6 years at Greensburg and helpung them wun the vuctory were fuve Senuor cheer leaders Luz Trupp Peg Stone Gunger Duxon Lous Boettler and Faye Boettler Everyone on the team receuved a steak school such an honor The royal couple of the Home comung dance was Sue Carr and Pat Bussey Joyce Barbour and Wallace Graham were crowners wuth Pat Parks and Don Kee as class attendants Bull Beese and Jean Roush receuved honors for wrutung an essay on Spurutual Guudance Gaul Myers was chosen basketball captaun but the season was not one of Greensburgs best The Senuor Play The Nught of January I6 was produced and directed wuth great patuence and efforts of Mr Guess wuth Sonny Stuenel Robert Bubughaus Alethea Steward un leading roles JoAnn Sockwell was chosen Hu Lute Queen Her attendants were Barb Boyes Evelyn Rununger Gladys Martin Pat Parks Joyce Barbour Tom York Donald Kee Dave Clark Wallace Graham Alfred Cowger and Donnue Romesburg Sonny Stuenel was nomunated Y Teen Kung and Eliza beth Trupp was the Hu Y Queen A Sweetheart dance was held un February wuth Beverly Bunns and Dave Clark as Kung and Queen The attendants were Mona Burch Ronnue Foxx Bob Hughes and Tom York The furst all nught Junuor Senuor Prom was held May 20 at the Mayflower Hotel Commencement was held June I and Baccalaureate on the 29th of Vlay The class speakers were Bull Beese Jean Roush and Brad Johnson The maun address guven by
