301 lffotth lffain .Vtteet rx I E , I4 Our other home Behind the story of every school system is the story of its superintendent and Board of lfduca- tion. On these men rests the responsibility of op- erating the schools of the community. Known to everyone in our school is our super- intendent, Mr. Samuel Bulick. Less well known to most students are the Board of Education composed of Messrs. Burhenn, Henry, Marslt, McClintock, Mclntyre, Nevin and Peterson. From the time these men levy the tax until they balance the books for the year, they are engaged in the discussion of problems of interest to every school boy. VVhat teachers should be elected, what hooks should be selected, what holidays should be observed-these and multiple other questions arise each year. 7 Of great importance is the work of hlrs. Anne Ziskind, whose job it is to preserve as high stand- ards as possible in the matter of school attend- ance. ln :mother department entirely, Dr. l.. Vllilson and Miss Gertrude Connor grope with major problems of health. This year they have conduct- ed physical examinations for the present junior and freshman class. In addition they helped with the X-raying of all teachers, seniors, and athletes who desired this piece of service. 'lio those students who are not familiar with the Administration Building, we merely say: It is a busy place yvhere every administrator is busy working for the welfare of every pupil in the school.

-gcfmz'nz'5t'zatot5 . . . 'lihe mecca for the students at some time in their high-school career is the office. Freshmen have little occasion to frequent the office. Ylihen- ever possible they avoid the portals of this un- familiar place from which issue the orders con- trolling their scholastic life. Sophomores hecome hraver and no longer tremlwle when the occupants hecome visihle. :X little awe still overcomes them. however, at seeing students on the other side of the desk. -luniors practice their rights as upper classmcn hy frequenting the office as a matter of course. Seniors walk in and out of the many doors with the poise hefitting the highly privileged soon-to-he graduates. This year the office took on a new appearance. Miss Mclfarland at last reigned supreme in her own office, rather than amid the hahhle and hunt of the general office as in former years. Nlr. -lacohs took over half of the hook room, minus hooks, and produced a shiny new office where, like Xlr. Anthony, he dealt with our problems. All of us groped vainly for Nliss Geigens married PLAN OUR PRGGRAMS name and finally settled on the familiar Nlarv as we stopped just to pass the time of day. Some- where hehind all the elephants we usually found -lo llammer and the answer to our many ques- tions and trouhles. ilihe pay phone was moved out to the main en- trance and students rememhered the good old days when a nickel was not necessary to tell Xlother you'd he home a little late hecause of an unavoidahle appointment with a teacher. Nlost of our vets minus home rooms, made the office their residence hetween periods. 'lihe usual stu- dents spent the usual morning at the harm rapid- ly thinking up an excuse for their ahsence from studv hall vesterdav. 'lihe new filing system gained popularity, es- pecially among the feminine menihers of the stu- dent hody. Now they could easily find out what period Bill had study hall and adjust their schedules to suit. Despite the changes, the office is, as formerly, the huh of all school activities.
