But most of the time he's mild mannered and that's pretty good for all ronrerned as he's one of those fellows that is hig enough to go bear hunting with a switch. He's Robert Lewis and he’s this ear s Gadsden County Times Coach of the year. His Greensboro team finished the season with a 7-3 mark and for much of the campaign was ranked number 1 in the state's class A |H lls. .COACH OF THE FOOTBALL COACHING STAFF Mr. Jackson; Mr. Lewis. Head Coach, and Mr. Rowell DONALD WARD, TIMES DEFENSIVE PLAYER If he weighed 200 pounds he might kill somebody.’' That's Coach Robert Lewis' choice comment about Donald Ward, the leader of Greensboro's defense and the Gadsden County Times defensive player of the year. Ward, who is a repeater as an All-County player, was in on over 120 tackles during the year including 85 unassisted. He also intercepted 4 passes as well as handled the punting for Greensboro. FREDDY LEE JONES CROPS OFFENSIVE HONORS Ever) once in a while during a football season you’ll see a player that you know is going to make something happen when he touches the football. Freddie Lee Jones, the Times 1979 Offensive player of the year is just such a player. The Greensboro flyer danced, darted and dashed for close to 1800 yards in keying the offense in the Bulldogs 7-3 season. Jones excited fans in a variety of ways rushing for 1.185 ards, catching passes for 20t anls and returning. 71 Glenn Ellis George Harris Mark Granger Donald Hodge Lonnie Capers Alvin Gainous Sylvester Hatten Terry Dawkins 72 Canaveral James Freddie Jones Clint Jordan Michael Langford Johnny McNealy Derrick Moore Clarence Pride Mike Roland Kenny Shiver Dexter Thigpen Donald Ward 73 1st Row: Herbert Woods.
