LIZZIE BOUIE Through the past twelve years, the students of Greensboro High School have benefitted a great deal from this special friend who has crossed our paths to brighten our days with that eternally “big smile . . . . . . and because YOU have always shown us much kindness and understanding, we are proud and honored to dedicate the 1978 edition of THE BULLDOG to you. Mrs. Lizzie Bouie. 7 A A DMINIS TR A TION SUPERVISING PRINCIPAL 1953-1977 MR. C. H. RICHARDSON I feel that the students from Greensboro High School will leave prepared for all enriched life and ready to help any community become a better place for our citizens of tomorrow. “Let’s make the New Age the Best Age for Greensboro High School Students.” The Administration of Greensboro High School strives to put into practice those principles and practices for which the public schools were founded. In doing so, we need the wholehearted cooperation and understanding of each student, parent, and faculty member in our community. PRINCIPAL MR. JAMES D. REVELL Teachers Are People It is sometimes difficult for a student when seated in a classroom, to think of a teacher as being anything other than a teacher. But the person holding that grade book or writing on the blackboard does have a life outside of school. Teachers do not wait with bated breath for Monday mornings nor do they feel disappointment on snow days.” If anything, they look forward to TGIF,” Thank God it's Friday, with more zeal than the students. They do not enjoy grading papers, dealing out F's, or giving students a hard time. Teachers want, very much, for their students to succeed, to do well. Teachers do the best they know how and it’s time we appreciated their efforts. FACULTY Mrs. Marion Bethune Mrs. Lizzie Bouie Mr. Carl Bryant Mr. Gary Bryant Mr. Wilbert Caldwell Sgt. James E. We looked back and remembered the happ times, leeline the reward of hard work and dedication. At other times we I ell all alone, isolated in the midst of a crowd. ()ur existence was one of constant new beeinnines and continuous endings that filled our lives and our memories. It was our sear. molded b the vast and diverse character of who we were and had become. Mr. Les Jones, Principal A young man came to Socrates one day and said, in substance: “Mr. Socrates, I have come 1,500 miles to gain wisdom and learning. 1 want learning, so I come to you.” Socrates said, “Come follow me.” He led the way down to the seashore. They waded out into the water until they were up to their waists, and then Socrates seized his companion and forced his head under the water. In spite of his struggles, Socrates held him under. Finally, when most of his resistance was gone, Socrates laid him out on the shore and returned to the market place. When the visitor had regained his strength, he returned to Socrates to learn the reason for his behavior. Socrates said to him “When you were under the water, what was the one thing you wanted more than anything else!” He said, “I wanted air.” Then Socrates said, “When you want knowledge and understanding as badly as you wanted air, you won’t have to ask anyone to give it to you.” 1 would like to challenge every recipient of this annual to seek knowledge and understanding as if you were gasping for air. On the other hand 1 will make it my goal to offer the best academic experience possible for each student enrolled at Greensboro High School. With our joint efforts Greensboro High will continue to be a nice place to attend and an academically rewarding experience. Sterling W.
