(?Cci44 'P'lafeAeccf' Date: June 30, 1964 Place: Laughingstock Hotel Affair: Class of '54 Reunion In front of the Laughingstock Hotel there is much excitement and laughter as the old Greensboro Grads of the class of '54 begin to arrive at their class reunion. As a blue Ford rolls to a stop in front of the 19 million dollar hotel, Mr. George Marcus, our former Civic's teacher, and present bell hop, opened the door. He seemed surprised to see Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Chester. Mrs. Chester is the former Miss Shirley Hopkins, with them are their two children. They are accompanied by their friends, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Rowan. Mrs. Rowan is the former Miriam Dean of Sawdust. All of a sudden up rolled an old Chevrolet truck from which hops Mr. and Mrs. Eubanks. They have just come from a visit to Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Smith, Mrs. Smith's parents. Now up rolls a 1964 model Chevrolet car driven by Professor Blount of the University of Greensboro. With him is Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Rowan. At last O. W. finally proposed to Margaret Blount after many years of shyness. Now arrives at our reunion a red limousine in which appears the two old maids of our class. They are Miss Sarah Boyd and Miss Anne Perkins. They are now running a Men's Hotel in hopes of winning a man in the near future. Arriving in the family bus are the Smith Brothers and their families. Hovey, who's wife is Tex Peanut King, has with him 4 little children. Gene finally persuaded Hazine Hampton to marry him and they now have six children. George Lewis used his charming ways to persuade Ann Holland to marry him. At the present he seems very hen-PECKED but he likes it. Bertie Mae Shiver arrives still on the loose and still undecided about her red-headed civilian and the sergeant.Veraline Mercer is peeping through the door to see if James Clark could be in the hotel. She is still searching for her a husband. Everything is quiet as the millionaires Mr. and Mrs. Hunt walk in. Mrs. Hunt is the former Carol Clark. Mr. Hunt is the President of the National Bank of Scratchankle. As Jean Fletcher walks in, looking like a fashion plate from Shreveport, all the women grab their husbands and she finally sits down by Mack Eubanks. Mrs. Shelly Adams, who is switch board operator comes in to tell us that Mr. Scott Clark will be delayed on account of a flat tire. While waiting for Mr. Clark, Mr. Bradford and his orchestra furnish the music for the dance. Mr. Clark finally arrives with his wife, the former Alice Faye Smith. Then just in time to eat arrives David Barton, better known as Sonny. David hasn't decided to settle down with one of his many girl friends. Serving the delicious food are our former teachers, Julia Bowles, Sue Young, Harris Francis, and Dorwin Peer. The check for the food and damages is presented to Miss Mary Allen, who hasn't caught a rtian yet. As the reunion comes to a close the old Senior class gets another glimpse of their old principal, Mr. C. H. Richardson, who is now Janitor of the Laughingstock Hotel. 12
