SENIOR PROPHESY CONTINUED Sarah will have finished college and will be employed by Fletcher Company as head bookkeeper. She turned down a position as a dress designer in Atlanta so she could be near Marcus whom she is still trying to get to accept her proposal to be his cook. Virginia will have worked with the F. B.I. as a secretary, but in 1962 she will be employed as secretary to the Head of the War Department. CLASS HISTORY September 1940 was the beginning of a long trip for the group who are now seniors. The first grade room was the starting point. The room held many shining faces. Mrs. Floyd Green was our teacher. In the second grade we were met by Mrs. Doc Rowan. We thought we were big shots” in this grade. We could read, count and even write our names. Miss Sara Howard was our teacher in the third grade. She kept us amused by continually stamping her foot. Mrs. Harrison met us in the fourth grade. We will never forget her famous tea parties. This year we were joined by Roy Johnson from Sycamore. In the fifth grade Mrs. McPherson was our teacher. This year we had to learn all forty -eight of the states and capitals. Ann Fenn from Bristol joined us this year. We were met in the sixth grade by Mrs. Tommy Green. This is one of the years we were kept quiet. Mrs. Carl Smith was our teacher in the seventh grade. We shall never forget the enjoyable afternoon Wayne spent smelling the roses. We learned that some of us were very artistically inclined. Carol Jean Clark from Tallahassee joined us that year. We had our first swimming party at Lake Mystic this year. Mr. T.R. Milam was our sponsor in the eighth grade. Wereally felt like grown-ups changing classes. Mable Hosey from Havana and Lenora Lovett from Winter Haven Joined our class. We caught up with Byron Cox in this grade.

SENIOR PROPHECY WE, THE SENIORS, PROPHESY THAT IN 1962: Roy will be Mayor of Docville and owner of a large used car lot. But, he will still cherish his old '41 Ford. Marcus will own the largest and best tobacco farm in Sawdust and will still be trying to dodge Sarah. Billy will have taken Mr. May's place as pastor of the Greensboro Baptist Church. He had a hard time deciding who, among his many girls, was best suited to be a preacher's wife. Laveme Barton was the winner. Wayne will have taken over Peanut's Service Station and will drive a Hot Rod in the Sunday races at Clark's Speedway in Scratchankle. Byron will be residing in Tallahassee. Immediately after finishing school he will join the Engineering Corps, and by 1962 he will have become a Major. He will have married Betty Jo. Willard will be playing solo cornet in his own band, known as Speck Rudd's Hotshots. This was originally Spike Jones's Orchestra. He is still trying to get Alice Faye to marry him. He had better hurry, because another Willard has the same idea. Mary Lee will be in Wasnington and will be working for the F. B. I. Lenora will have become a missionary. Carol Jean will be married to Elton and will be living in Chattahoochee, where he is still employed at the hospital. They have three children. Ann will have become a nurse and will be working in Walter Reed Hospital. Mabel will be an airline hostess, working for Pan American Airlines. Benita will be married to Harold who will have taken over the Suwannee store. Both attended college.

HISTORY CONTINUED Mrs. C.L. Fowler met us in the ninth grade. Virginia Watson from Quincy joined our class. It's a miracle that Wayne and Marcus have any teeth left after the numerous shakings Mrs. Fowler gave the impudent rascals. Again in the tenth grade Mrs. Fowler was our sponsor. Parties were very popular that year and we all remember the Possum with the white strip down his back that Roy caught. The next year we were Juniors and Mr. W.H. Nolin, better known to us as Mr. Bob , was our sponsor. The most exciting day of that year was when we received our rings. We presented Cornin' Round the Mountain as our Junior play. It was a humdinger . We entertained the Seniors with a beach party at Long Beach. We also learned that year that Juniors never have a skip day. Then came the glorious day when we became Seniors. Our Senior play, Everybody's Crazy sponsored by Mr. E. Forrest May, was a big hit with everyone. In February we were deeply grieved by the death of Mr. May. The second semester. Miss Betty Gregory was our sponsor. We can say that we have enjoyed our years at Greensboro High School. The memories of these years will always linger in our hearts.
