SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY - CON’T. All heads are turned toward the door as Mrs. Bessie Buckorphington gracefully stalks in. Everyone is greatly surprised, because they did not expect their old classmate Edith Cumbie, now a part owner in the Fame de Glamor Theater that has replaced the Leaf Theater in Quincy, to come to the reunion. Edith changed her name to Bessie after marrying Oliver van Brutenburg Buchorphington. Sometimes Edith performs in the theater herself, and now she is working on Romeo and Juliet which she had Lilia Smith the well-known author, rewrite for her so that it would suit her own acting talent. Some people still don't believe that she has any talent, but Edith believes in the proverb ‘‘If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.” After depositing her husband at a corner of the room well away from Ida Pearl, Edith went over and joined Margaret and Juanita. Lilia Smith, the famous author, is usually found wherever Edith is, and true to tradition she came with Edith to the reunion. It was once rumored that Lilia and Edith’s husband, Oliver, were forever making eyes at each other, but a stop was put to that. Edith politely gave Lilia a choice of putting in her application for entrance to Lynell’s old maids' mansion or getting married. Poor unsuspectiong Lilia got married. For reasons known only to herself, Lilia's husband is not at the reunion. No one has been able to recognize the woman that just came in, but whoever she is, she is causing quite a commotion. Ruby, after rendering several squeaks of joy, announced that it was-Ellie Mclver Livingstone. Soon after completing her college education, Ellie was sent as missionary to Africa by the Flat Creek Baptist Church. One day while racing a crocodile down a tropical stream, Ellie came upon a man by the name of Livingstone. He claims to be a grandson of David Livingstone. To make a long story short they were soon married. By combining their efforts their success at converting natives was twice as great. Ellie has made this flying trip to the U. S. to start a museum which will bear her name and to attend the class reunion. After renewing acquaintance with her classmates, Ellie declared that she had rather be in Africa with the cannibals. Suddenly everyone rushed to the front door to see what in the world was causing such a loud noise. There they found Reginald McPherson repairing the front door. He is a carpenter, and being very artistic, he wanted to see how Lynell’s home would look after he worked on it awhile. Ida Pearl left her man long enough to drag Reginald inside. Reginald once asked Ellie to marry him, but she told him that her career was more important to her than marriage. Bob Boyd, as usual, was one of the last to arrive. The next half hour was taken up by Bob as he informed everyone of the latest regarding his romance with Benita Bevis whom he is still trying to persuade to marry him. 16

Senior Class Prophecy The Senior Class of 1950, which will be remembered as the most dignified class Greensboro High School ever produced, is now gathering for its reunion. Amid mingled tears of sorrow and joy the reunion was planned ten years ago on the night of their graduation. The place was to be designated later, but it was agreed that it would probably be at the old maids' mansion of Lynell Fletcher who started building it in her last year of school, even though she did not plan to move in it until it was absolutely necessary. The first woebegone creature to straggle in, on whose face is written the picture of many unhappy marriages, is Ida Pearl Alday Hill Jones, and right now she is hot on the trail of another name to add. Even though Ida Pearl is a grass widow and not an old maid, she used her gift of gab to convince Lynell that she should amend the clause in her constitution that said only hopeless old maids should be admitted into her mansion. Ida Pearl walks into the library, picks up a book entitled “The Art of Catching a Beau and drops ungracefully into a chair. Suddenly Ida Pearl spies Herman who is now the best veterinarian in the whole United States of Greensboro, Sycamore, Flat Creek and Providence and who is better known as Doctor Kill-All-Cure-None. He specializes in the treatment of cows. Maybe that is why Ida Pearl is so interested in him. She always declared she was going to marry Herman, but she is just getting around to it. While Ida Pearl was busy maneuvering Herman into a corner so that they would be undisturbed, Robert Blount and his wife Ruby came strolling in. His wife will be remembered as the former Miss Ruby Chason, the shyest and most timid girl in the class of 1950. No one knows why those two got married, but there was once a rumor to the effect that Ruby told Robert that their names sounded very good together, so he decided that he might as well make it a permanent thing. Robert owns the largest shade tobacco farm in Gadsden County, and considering the number of children they have, it is easy to see why it needs to be large. Ruby’s entire time is taken up with their nine chubby little Rubys and Roberts. Right behind Ruby and Robert was Lynell Fletcher, the owner of the old maids' mansion. Her hobby is cats. Her guests have to fight about six cats before they can get a chair to sit on. Lynell used to be an airline hostess, but her love for cats got the best of her, so she quit her career and started her cat collection. Margaret and Juanita Blount just made their entrance through the door coming from the garden. They may be heard on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday over WCNH, as Jane and Judy Jones, the Twin Sisters, or Mama has Double Trouble. Both girls are happily married, but their husbands, who are traveling salesmen for Doctor Herman Kill-All-Cure-None, are seldom at home. Margaret and Juanita are to sing for their classmates as soon as they all arrive. 15
