Academics— the ultimate purpose- much anxious mental labor in an at mosphere or dedication to the search for truth, of determination to the expansion of new visions and ol desire for the improvement of understanding. From these diligent hours of effort and concentration we seek the avenues of fellowship and need not look far distant for those of our kind. From the intellectual endeavor— the ease and joy of social exchange and the routine actions, paradoxically trivial and significant, we surmise the Greensboro College student— a unit in the continuity ol time.

The Day— a minute toiling segment of a seemingly interminable span of time in the educational pursuit— a segment represented by the pressure of a theme due, hours in the library, sunshine or rain, green day or gray, an empty mailbox, a full ash tray, a Coke, a blue book, red pills, a smile, a w ord, a I riend— recorded on the calendar and in the heart of one who knows. The ages of such segments which came before are ol little concern in the chaotic ones of the present, though they grant us the heritage that patterns today. It is in preparation lor the segments in the looming time ahead that we strive to keep the pace. In a day the introspective max sec the panorama ol a time vanished, and the reflective max sec a suggestive glimpse ol a time yet to be. I he advantage and opportunity is from our point ol view— presently— today. Page J
