Page Thirty-nii The purpose of the Honor Boord is to help the individual student be seriously aware of his responsibility to uphold the high standards of honor which the students voted to hove upheld in the written Honor System of Greensboro College. Cheating, stealing, and falsification constitute academic and honor violations handled by the Board, which renders a decision on the cases and administers penalties to the violators. Judy Passavant is the Chairman of the Honor Board and Helen Brewer is the Secretary. The Dean of Students is the Advisor. HONOR BOARD Page Forty WOMEN ' S STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION The Women ' s Student Government Association is composed of all women students and is governed by two councils: the Judicial Board, composed of elected officers and class rep- resentatives; and the Legislative Board, composed of the dormitory presidents as well os the elected officers and class First Row; Mortho Huggin, Freshman Class Representative; Sue Blac President. G, A. The president represents the men on the Co-Board and presides as chairman over the Men ' s Judicial Board. MEN ' S STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION Poge Forty-two The National Student Association is on organization composed of 400 colleges and universities. Its purpose of discovering and at- tempting to solve campus prob- lems is carried forth in its con- cern with student affairs locally, nationally, and internationally. This year one of the highlights of NSA activities was a human rela- tions seminar, The Changing South, held on January I 1 ana 12. NATIONAL STUDENT ASSOCIATION STATE STUDENT LEGISLATURE Jimmy Kirk, Sue Black, Kay McCulloch, Anne Louise Day, Mary Fritts, Dick Kenne The purpose of the State Student Legislature is to offer students in the colleges of North Carolina the opportunity to examine important issues appropriate to action by a state legislature and to discuss these issues in intelligent debate. This year Kay McCulloch headed the local SSL delegation The purpose of the Student Christian Fellowship is to promote a more Christian atmosphere on our campus. Every G- C. student is a mem- ber and potential active participant- S.C F. endeavors are channeled toward uniting our students in the desire to know full and creative lives through a growing understonding of God; toward seeking to understand Jesus and to follow Him, toward being loyal to His church and toward having a part in making the blessings of Christian life pos- sible to all people. DRAMA - ' 62 - ' 63 This year has been a triumphant one for Greensboro College ' s Vocal Ensemble and Players, beginning in October with Eugene O ' Neill ' s A Touch of the Poet, presented by the Greensboro College Players, and fol- lowed in December by the Ensemble ' s The Old Maid and the Thief, a comic opera by Gian-Carlo Menotti. Under Milkwood by Dylan Thomas was the February work of the Players, And in April the Vocal Ensemble ' s G S, was presented. The final production of the year, the Players ' An Invitation To A March by Arthur Laurents, won the satis- faction and praise of both faculty and stu- dents. Moon over Miami palm-lined ocean front , , crystal canals of Ft Lauderdale . . shimmering waters of the Gulf - . . graceful skiers at Cypress . . . these are only a few mem- ories of the Glee Club as they recall the Fall Tour to Florida, not to mention the strolls down Fifth Avenue and the gay lights of the Manhattan Tower city in the Spring Tour to New York People and places are not all or most important with this active group, however. Fun, fellowship, teamwork, and a love for music and a willingness to learn more about it are combined to reap benefits such as mental growth and the ability to work with others Highlights of the year included the two concerts in Odell and performing for the Schoolmasters ' Dinner and Religious Emphasis Week. The two this year were Gian Carlo Menotti ' s The Old Maid and the Thief, and Giacomo Puccini ' s Gianni Schicchi Poge Sixty-four CHAMBER ORCHESTRA Each semester the student body and commu- nity are entertained by the Chamber Orches- tra, under the direction of Mr, Don Hansen. The orchestra, which meets twice o week, is open to any instrumentalist who might en|oy performing with this group LANDSMEN Formed early in the fall semester of 1962 is the group of folk singers called The Landsmen. They originated as tem- porary intermission entertainment for the Emerson Formols, end made their campus debut prior to the Emerson show at the Halloween party under the name of The Prophets. Rapid fame fias followed them on our campus. This active group always helps the school year to begin just right with a get-acquaint- ed dance and leads G. C. ' s social life throughout the year. Other duties for the committee include determining the students ' dress for certain occasions, co-ordinating the Societies, and setting standards of behavior for both men and women students. The various schools of art were presented by the distinguished art critic, Dr. Richard McLonathan, and the talented New York Woodwind Quintet performed both early and contemporary music.
