Interest was running high when Coach Armstrong called for basketball tryouts. He was greeted by five returning lettermen. Competition was keen for a starting position with rookies Billy Hopper, Don Lamm, Dick Fisk, and Bob Chess pressing veterans hard. Not pictured: Roger Barley. The junior varsity mimicked the varsity's record by wlnnlng seven and losing flve games. Roger Burley did yeomen's duty as he potted basket after basket to head scoring. Dick Rhoads did a very commendable job as manager for the two teams. As in the two previous years, a tall senior team won the honors in the inter- class basketball tournament but not before edging out a scrapping junior team. The sophomores finished third and a fighting reshrnan team came in fourth.
