Many problems are to be con- fronted as they meet the first Monday of each month. This is the group which has the final authority on all matters pertaining to the school. Many hours of deep concern have been spent by these men and women who control our school. Back Row.-Buel Hockett, Forrest Holmes,JohnRoberts. Dale Hester, Alva Tish. Charles Lamm. DEDICATIO .few X Q In appreciation of his challenging and consistant Christian life, and for the prayers and tears on behalf of the Greenleaf Academy Student Body, we, the Annual staff dedicate this Annual to O. Lynn Hockett. Principal and Secretar X ggincwa ERS' QTY MR N H, Vggfsgfsecte GLEWA THE NEED OF THE HOUR Where there is no vision, the people perish. It has been the vision that has kept our academy going and growing for forty years. It was vision that caused them to sacrifice through the years, coupled with afaith in God. The need of the hour is that those who have been privileged to graduate from its halls may grasp and carry the torch of our founders with renewed devotion. God is certainly calling and using the young people of this generation to call America back to faith in God. The great national revivals are being headed by young men. The challenge comes to all young men and women who go from our academy to take their places of responsibility and leadership in God's plan for this age. This must be a time of all-out support and earnest prayer that God will con- tinue to use young people to carry His message to a Godless world. This is the need of the hour. F AQULTY was tx. Senior Class History IN SEPTEMBER, 1947, a Freshman class of 18 members came into Greenleaf Academy and were steered through the year with Jack Delamarter as president and Mrs. Winters as sponsor. No worries marred the good times together that year. The fall of 1948 saw some changes in the class as Maxine Shelton, Melford Camp, Bertha Watson, Leon Jeffery, and Helen Cline left, but Terrell and Corwin Hanson from Boise 5' joined the ranks. Paul Ralphs was elected president with ' Mr. Winters as sponsor. The year was high-lighted by changing the tradition of the typical freshman initiation to a welcome party, iwhich included a hay-ride andawatermelon feedl. Another outstanding event of the year was the winning of the inter-class tournament by the sophomore boys. As the class entered the academy upper classmen ln 1949, Dick Jones and Bertha Watson were added to the roster, but Terrell and Corwin Hanson were missing. Chester Harris was class president and Miss Craven servedas the sponsor. Outstanding events were the Junior-Senior banquet, using MARY HAND-Not Pictured ALBERT FISHER-tl-'lrst Semester! Not Pictured the theme of rainbows. The Hoosier School Master fa three-act playl, was successfully presented to an appreci- ative audience. Much to the delight of the class members, the Junior boys again carried off the honors in the inter-class basketball tournament. As the seniors of 1950, Dick .Tones did not return, but Brooks Eaker,Leon Jeffery, Kenneth Switzer and Albert Fisher joined the ranks. At the end of the semester, Albert Fisher completed his work and Norman Russell entered at mid-year. Also mlsslng were Marilyn -Puckett and Bertha Watson. Norman Winters occupied the presldent's chair and Dick Cadd was class sponsor. This year completed the winning of the inter-class basketball tournament for three years. The traditional senior breakfast and sneak were enjoyed ln October. Norman and Orville Winters, Paul Ralphs, Jack Delamarter, Milton Fitch, Chester Harris, Velma Cloud, Eva Mae Fisk, Glen Tish, and Loulse Mayfield were the seniors who enjoyed all four years of high school together. The senior class wishes a successful year to the following classes with the best of luck. Before the year closed the responsibility of editor shifted to Mary .To George who took Bear Tales through to the end. Bear Tales reported on a large number of topics of which sports, gossip, interviews, classes and discussions are a few. HST ' E .signers CHAPEL Every day is highlighted by our chapels, usually twenty minutes in length, but on special occasions the time varies. During the school year a student revival is held. This year Rev. G. Franklin Allee was our evangelist, His sermons were a real blessing and several received spiritual help. Rev. Don Looney, I mean Lonie, made a big hit by making chapel very enjoyable and, at the same time, many found spiritual help. The choir which consists of thirty voices has been very active under the splendid direction of Dick Cadd. The many duties of the organization were carried out by officers, Don Lamm heading the list as president-business manager. The busiest man of all, no doubt, was our transportation manager, Orville Winters. The choir sang at about thirty different occasions during the year to an estimated six or seven thousand people. The demand for the choir was so great that many churches and organizations had to be turned down. The choir was given a Number 1 rating by all the judges at the District Music Festival. They were also invited to sing on the evetiing program, the only other choir being Boise High School. As we go to press th results of the State Festival at Twin Falls are unavailable. , The joys of singing and of choir tours are not to be' expressed in writing as any- one who has ever sung in a choir knows. Such was this 1950-51 choir year. mot-famizrtv 1.9 :A D x. QQJ' !'xx5g 'F gA,:88gl 9 0' I YOUTH onthe MARCH CL B s U., A Q. irQf'V ECOND MAH. The foot- ball season stood out this year taking only one loss, and that by only one point. Our coach really knows his sports being a veteran in the field all his school days. Coach Bob Armstrong, a stellar athlete from George Fox College, employed a split T formation. The Grizzlies possessed a very effective passing attack with Dick Fisk throwing and .Terry Weber and Paul Ralphs, r e c e iving. Don Lamm and Albert Fisher proved to be very hard-running backs, repeatedly ripping off huge chunks of yardage. ff-r Nr' Xp! q Q 1950 FOOTBALL SQUAD PAUL RALP End - Co-Ca Highlighting the year was a 26-7 victory over Nampa Nazarene Academy, in a hard- fought contest at Nampa. The lone mar on the Grizzlies record was a 13-12 defeat at the hands of Council. .Terry Weber, star end, was injured onahardtackle and Council proceded to score the turning T.D. and convert to knock the Academy from the unbeaten ranks. All in all it was a very successful season, and we feel that the Academy squad ranked among the top teams in the State. 890595 DXCK G 0.16 NN TSB, GLF, DUANE FODGE Ce ter G.F.A.- - - G.F.A.- - - G.F.A.- - - G.F.A.- - - 40 32 G.F.A.- - -25 26 12 G.F.A.- - -32 9K DON Y-mmrv PIGSKIN PARADE Donnelly McCall - - - 6 Nampa Nazarene- - - 6 St. Teresa ------ 6 Nampa Nazarene - - - 7 Council ------- 13 New Meadows - - - 25 LEON IEFFERY NG ul-rd BASKETB LL PAUL RALPHS- Forward ck Deumarlil' v w Bob Annatrohs, Norman wma In ck ro ' b chess Ba - paul Ralgshs- mmm. mek Fisk- B0 ville W l ?rBbxck Rho: . They also handed defeats to the local town team and the academy team of 1948. The highlight bf the season was the closing game of the sea son with a highly-regarded Notus fiv . T e he academy team trounced the visitors 75 to 41. Interest was running high when Coach Armstrong called for basketball tryouts. He was greeted by five returning lettermen.
