Retsloff FRIENDS A FRIEND IS A PERSON Who will help you in the hour of need. 4 Who will defend you in the hour when others speak evil of you. Who will help you up hill when you are sliding down. FRIENDS Who will lend you a dollar without deducting the interest. It's always hard to express the way you feel about someone, but often it's harder to write what you feel. So the Pirate Staff of 1983-84 hopes that by dedicating the Pirate to the following two people, we can tell them just how much they mean to us and many other students and faculty. Even though, Mr. Guy Boyd- stun has been here six years, and Mrs. Rita Boydstun only four years, they both have shared in many anxieties, however they have also shared in many good times which out do the bad times. And we truly wish to thank them. So thank you very much Mr. and Mrs. Boyd- stun. 6 7 FRIENDS 8 ■Uiiorj Gary Anderson Mike Ashworth Leslie Baker Shane Barrett Angie Baugus Howard Bean 10 Paula Cate Cathy Copeland Edward Farmer Ronald Haynes Rose Ledbetter Keith Katowich Lance Lee Kim Land Jeff Henretty Lynn Long Billy Mesplay James Neal 11 Gary Dean Anderson Photograph not available Michael Conley Ashworth FHA-1; Varsity Club-1; Football-4; Varsity club-2; Football-4; Track-3; Math-Sci.-2. He was a retired electrician from Welch's Grape Juice Co. A member of V. F. W. American Legion Military Order of Purple Heart. Raymond served in Marine corps he fought in Marinana Islands, Volcano Islands, Iwo Jima, and Guam. He served in three major campaigns. He was decorated for bravery as a scout, sniper, and a sharp shooter. Raymond was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded on Iwo Jima. 'Grandpa was the name to every one that knew him. He was a very special man and everyone that knew him loved him. To the ones of us that knew him better he was a man always in pain. He was a hero but not as much in war as in our heart. There will never be a man as proud and great as he was. He left us as he always was joking and laughing and, that is how we all remember him. We know now although, it hurts, that he is no longer suffering but he's asleep and at peace with himself. We can only hope that before he died he realized just how much we really loved him, our Grandpa ! the memory of him will always be clear and of love. Although, he is gone, he is with us in our hearts forever.
