m PUBLISHED BY GREENHILLS ANNUAL STAFF GREENHILLS HIGH SCHOOL .93 if i i f i FOREWORD The theme of this yearbook, to make a year, was evidently suggested because it includes the activities of the student body of Greenhills High School for the year 1957-1958, these together constituting the story of the year. It is interesting to speculate that a typical year in the history of a high school may in many ways represent every year because it records the activities of boys and girls who overa long period of time are interested in essentially the same things. It is a part of growth to be interested in social activities, in athletic activities, in music, in dramatic events and in many other specialclubs and activities as well as in the pursuit of academic achievement. It takes all of these to make up life now, and to develop capacity for future usefulness. It may be well to realize early in life that although this yearbook describes a specific year, life is made up of a series of yeats and the interests and activities of one year may well represent years to follow and hence become a measuring stick for life as a whole. For this reason we trust that the year 1957-1958 will be a record of intense interest in and a constructive effort toward the successful completion of many endeavors and that this pattern of an active life will express itself in the service of God and mankind during all of your future life. May all of your years be fruitful. $. RAY A. YOUNG, Superintendent We, the students, congrat- ulate Mr. Fowler on his promotion and wish him the best of luck in the future. The students of Greenhills sincerely thank Mr. Billinsley for the help he has been this past year and we are looking forward for the years to come. First row: Mr. Wellman, Mr. Walters. Mr. Adams. Even though this event occurs every year, somehow there is always something new and different about the formal ceremony. Having lighted their candles, the Seniors depart on a new adventure. We wish success in all their pursuits. 92 PROPHECY The below stated prophecy, found in the mouldy ruins of an alcohol denaturing factory by an even number of students on a biology field trip, is a filthy tissue of lies and falsehood. It has been attributed, on good authority, to a notorious Greenhills High School oracle. At the time of writing, said oracle appears to have been rather deeply under the influence and thought himself awfully witty. The innocent. but ill-fated prophecy committee disclaims any knowledge of the meaning of a large number of the entries and does not necessarily concur with those understood parts which might be taken as derogatory to students mentioned. A giant step was taken on that road this year when they introduced a voting system for the election of class and council officers to the student body. The chief mechanic in this overhauling job was our teacher of history, Mr, Arter. With his guidance, the council started an informative drive and followed through with one of the mast succeSSful projects this school has ever witnessed. Elections were held democratically and were proven to be educational and beneficial to all involved. This new system should give us a good crop of leaders. We congratulate the Student Council for this ref- ormation and hope that it has been a step to the betterment of our school. 4 . h Fu-i -., $hz. BASEBALL ROW 1: P. Piekarski, B. Fridman. J.
