56 ioneer PUBLISHER BY Greenhnls Annual Staff Hills, . . .Greenhills rising der the city's rush Nestled within a peaceful glade. Truly on appropriate environment for raising the citizens of tomorrow, God-feoring Pioneers who will carry on our honor and traditions for years to come. Foreword Every town has its sourcesof pride in its past, --its achievements, its institutions and the prestige that has come to it through the accomplishments of its people either in groups or as individuals. Greenhills, in its short history, can match any town in all of these respects but can excel most of them inmony ways. The thread of emphasis upon nature throughout this yearbook brings to mind one of the most enchanting, enticingond endearing teoturesofour village. Nearlyeveryinhabitont who has lived in other communitieswill quickly admit that for clean atmosphere, For beauty of landscape and natural attractiveness, they have never lived in or seen a town with o more wonderful setting. Manystudents of Greenhills High School have been privileged to live most of their years in the midst oF these God-given surroundings. Your future may take you to places remote and For eWay but you will likely never Find a community so blessed with the beauties of nature as that of your home town, Greenhills . Whether conscious of it or not, you nocloubt have been vitally affected by this influence. One could hardly live under such ideal circumstances withoutbecomingowure of the finer things of life and more sensitive to the more enobling characteristics of true manhood and womanhood. A sense ofobl igation and responsibilityshould come to the youth who have been showered with these manifold blessings because even a small measure of this plea- sure has been denied to thousands of people. Of the limitless number of blessings that are possible in America, they exist in Unusual abundance in our own Green- hills. For all of these veryspecial privileges we should be continually grateful to God and show it in our Future life by being conscientious Followers of His will. To this end we pray you will work and live and may you ever seek His guidance. K34 RAY A. YOUN G Mr. thor M. At the beginning of the year, Green- hills was picked on the basis of last year's showing to finish first or second in the league . Deer Park, our leading rivi1 For the title, was successful in holding Greenhills to a 6-6 tie and thus the championship Was split. The season started with an invasion of Taylor which was very successful . The score: 19-13. Our first league game was with Lockland, who was rated very high but fell to the Pioneers, 42-6. Feeling their cats, the Pioneers rolled over Mariemont 09-61 and started preparing For the underrated Reading. They put up a tough fight, but lost 19-13. Deer Park, meanwhile, had kept pace with us and the game between them and the Pioneers ended in a 6-6 tie. Then came the grudge match with St. Bernard which we won 27-0. Next came the ti Itwith the undermanned but game Wyoming . The result was a 34-13 victory added to our tally. After running over N.C.H. , 27-0, we met Dayton Wilbur Wright and found we had our hands full . The score at the end of the game was 7-7. Our only defeat was to a spirited eleven from Mt Healthy in a snowstorm. We wish to express our thanks to Coach Staub for bring us through to another M. V. l. L. crown. The whole Annual Stuff extends their thanks to the advisers for u iob well done. Although the going has been rough at times they have done wonderful jobs In advising and directing the efforts of our members and editors. Without them none of this would be possible. LEFT T0 RIGHT: Mr. Bartee - Literary, Mr. Lerke - Lay-out. A. Mulford - Staff Member. 98 Editoris Message This year has beena veryeventful and every busyone for all of us. Because of studies, athletics, and other activities, the task of con- structing our annual has fallen upon a Faithful few. Sacrifice and work, though, is the stuff of which most successful proiects are made and this one was no exception . Many hours of pleasure were given up by staff members in order that they could work on the annual . And it is to these that the creditfor the annual should be accorded . We the editors, therefore thank all the people who made this publi- cation possible . For whatever deserves to exist deserves also to be known, For knowledge is ihe image of existence and things mean and splendid exist alike. -Francis Bacon IJQQ a vunoous km aumw I'M : a
