It is the stars, The stars above us, govern our conditions. W.. Shakespeare King Lear, Act III, Sc. 3 When the Senior Class chose these members of the faculty for this dedication, they selected two men who were always supportive, helpful, enthusiastic, and perhaps most importantly, were always ready to listen to the students. As a way of saying thank you, the Senior Class of 1983 dedicates this year's Cavalcade to Mr. Richard Frank Hall and to Mr. Robert Phillip Murphy. The Seniors respect and admire these men, and consider themselves fortunate toihave haditwo such gentlemen to guide them through their Greenhill careers. Coach Dick Hall came to Greenhill in 1971, after having spent seven years with the Dallas Tornado Soccer Club, where rue was a member of the all-star team, and was Captain for two seasons. He was promoted to Athletic Director in 1980. Coach Hall took an active interest in all sports, but he gave added attention to his Varsity Boys' Soccer Team, which won S.P.C. in 1982 and 1983. This was a team with a large roster of members from the Class of 1983. Coach Hall's interest was not Jnly in the athletic students, anyone could go to him, either for encouragement or just to chat. Mr. Bob Murphy came to Greenhill in 1978, after having taught and coached at Holland Hall and Kent Denver. He joined the faculty as both Dean of Middle School and Middle School math teacher. He remained there until 1980 when he moved to the Upper School where he assumed the responsibilities of Dean of Upper School, and continued as a math teacher. He also coached Varsity Basketball, Golf, and Baseball, and was a Senior Class sponsor. All of these responsibilities placed Mr. Murphy in continuous rapport with the students. He was more than just a teacher, he was a friend who would talk with a student with understanding and enthusiasm, whether the topic was grades or future plans. f .es it if

i id Headmaster' Phillip G. Foote. In the Aims and Purposes of Greenhill we find the statement, The curriculum is an organic entity, constantly under revision. 4 In my opening remarks at orientation in September, I asked the faculty to concentrate on two major priorities for this school year. The first priority was to spend as much time as possible through both school meetings and departmental meetings on curricular concerns and development. As a result of these meetings we now have a totally updated and revised curriculum. The faculty should be commended for the thoughtfulness and thoroughness with which they have approached this task. Also in the Aims and Purposes of Greenhill we find the statement, Greenhill fosters a warm family atmosphere which prevails in the school community, and the intellectual and emotional growth and development of each student as an individual is deemed of paramount importance. My second charge to the faculty was to continue to seek out ne ways to improve our advising system. Each division of th school, each department and each grade level explored, discussed and implemented new techniques for helping their individual students. Greenhill continues to be recognized both nationally and internationally for its own unique approach to education. Our energetic, involved faculty and our supportive parents contribute to this uniqueness. We seek and learn together as we approach each new challenge. These are the qualities that are found in only the great schools! t
