PHYSIC L ED ATIO Lower School Physical Education in involved in the building years for our students. In the first grade, children use the Motor Room in the morning, developing their fine motor control. Working at the chalk board, developing listening skills, manipulating puzzles, tumbling, balancing on beams and boardsg aid in the development of their coordination. Physical Education for first through third grades work on large motor skills such as jumping, running, and ball handling. They play games using these acquired skills and learn to work and play together. Fourth through Sixth graders, use the skills they have learned in playing team sports, as Well as, an introduction to individualized sports, such as tennis, badminton, gymnastics, and track and field. Seventh and Eighth Graders are given the opportunity to participate in the school's Teamsports program. During this time, they are Working on improving their individual skills and team play. Upper Schoolers have a choice of playing a Varsity Sport or taking Physical Education Classes. These classes work basically with the life-time sports such as tennis, badminton, archery, weights, conditioning, and aerobic dance. All these activities provide the student with knowledge enabling them to participate in many different activities throughout their lives. , T . . As an integral part of every students' life at Greenhill, the Fine Arts Department educates the students in creative expression and appreciation of music, drama, visual arts, and speech. The campus itself bespeaks the importance of the arts in Greenhill life-with both students' art work and selections from the Ackerman Foundation collection of contemporary art embellishing each building of the campus. '-If The Fine Arts facilities consist of an outstanding theatre, a complete recording studio, five photographic dark rooms, two kilns, a weaving studio, a ballet studio and complete instrumental and choral halls. Along with music and art, required for all Lower and Middle schoolers, there are twenty-six separate Fine Arts electives courses offered, ranging from Computer Music to Sculpture and Advanced Acting.
