John Cardinal .Newman stated that the educated man is at home in any society, he has common ground with every classg he knows when to speak and when to be silent: he is able to converse, he is able to listeng he can ask a question pertinently, and gain a lesson seasonably. This statement could easily sum up the education that a person gains from attendance at Greenhill. I feel that education at Greenhill gave me the aid to cultivate the power to think, to reason, to investigate, and to evolve new ideas. ,The education has developed my ability to cooperate with others and to recognize the rights of others as well as to inspire and motivate the creative and appreciative talents within me. What Greenhill has meant to me it provided opportunities and the necessary resources to develop a well-furnished mind, WYE All art is quite useless. His wonderful academic record won him the title of Most Intelligent of the Senior Class. While somewhat quiet at times, Terry is a friendly, likable guy, and has a helpful and sincere nature, His twinkling eyes reveal a glimpse of his cheery good humor, Terry enjoys reading, cooking special dishes, attending the foreign language mov- ies at the Fine Arts theatre, collecting records and writing for the CAVALCADE, He is a hard worker, often staying many hours after school to finish a test. His ability to add jest to the endless routine of school life, thus bringing enjoyment to all, had enabled him to acquire the title of Mr, Friendly. In his spare- time, Tom can usually be found reading, listening to jazz and classical recordings, hunting, fishing, or preparing a unique meal. One would be absolutely correct in ascer taining that Tom is indeed an industrious person. Although he enjoys mild success as an amateur gourmet, Tom intends to become a chemical engineer. Best wishes for a successful and rewarding future go to Tom, as he prepares to enter college next fall. Whare'er he did was done with so much ease, In him alone, 'twas natural to please. Larry, who has been with Greenhill since it was only a green field, has become one of its most favored students, winning honors, scholastic as well as honorary, by the buck- etful. He is a natural leader, and the life of every party. He has been everything from editor of the CAVALCADE to the President of the Gourmet Club. His interest in the lat- ter activity won for him the hitherto unheard of prize of a trip to Hollywood for two years in succession, so by now he should be quite familiar with the city, Larry, in his three years of lettering at football as well as in his capacity of co-captain, has been one of our top men and has succeeded in keeping our spirits high. Larry can usually be seen with a dark haired young damsel, or in his white Corvette or both. Whether he is at the drags or a formal dance, Larry is popular, and we will all be sorry to lose The Spirit of Greenhill. At this time Larry has not decided where he will go to college, but we are sure that he will do well in whatever college he chooses. What's the use? DRYDEN Friendliestz MARIE STANFIELD TOM MARTIN Class Prophecy While wheeling a patient into the operating room on Tuesday, September 27, 1970, I, TERRY DER- BY, a doctor and a slight music enthusiast, more often referred to as The Singing Surgeon, kept reasur- ring my patient that there would not be any pain connected with the forthcoming operation. To my utter amazement, he lapsed into an immediate coma after hearing that I did not administer ether, but, rather, relied upon the golden tones of my voice. As I was preparing to deliver a rendition of I Hate To See My Patient Turn So Green, I thought I heard him mumble vaguely. Leaning close, I was able to hear: Greenhill School Must attend alumni and faculty dinner Hope to see old friends, students, ffadesj... My curiosity having been aroused, I left my patient on the pad and proceeded to investigate this Greenhill Affair. At Greenhill, I entered the banquet hall in time to hear a moving speech entitled How To Enjoy Spanish, which was being delivered by El Marques del Aire Caliente, who is better known as RAY LUCKEY. As I glanced about the room, observing the attending guests, I found that I recognized many. Seat- ed across from me was FRANCES OUTLER, who was having much difficulty handling a group of nine row- dy boys. Trying to ignore the confusion, she managed to tell me that she had married LARRY NICHOLS, a now prominent rancher Q and an even more prominent baby sitterj, thus becoming a proud mother and an equally proud housewife. Concluding my chat with Frances, I was captivated by the appearance of an attractive brunette who was being escorted by an old acquaintance of mine, the Duke of Milan. Join- ing me at my table, the Duke introduced his gorgeous date, DOTTIE WILLIAMS, and told me that he had met her in Europe, where she was a figure of social importance. After partaking of a delicious meal, I later found out that it had been prepared by TOM MARTIN, a celebrated gourmet, While seeking the recipe for the marvelous Italian specialty, Iwas interested to learn that Tom enjoyed preparing unique dishes as a hobby as much as he enjoyed his position as a chemical engineer. After completing the meal, the faculty and alumni were entertained royally by CAROLYN RILEY, a scintillating personality who had won fame, not only as a delightful singer, but also as Miss Universe of 1970. After her rousing performance, the dinner was officially over and the alums proceeded to tour the new Greenhill campus. Nearing the vicinity of the Physical Education building, I noticed a pert blonde heading for the en- trance. I approached her and found that she was none other than KAY KILLIAN, the famous leader of the Department of Physical Education. Inviting me to tour the remainder of the campus, she insisted that I must see the new track field, the football field, swimming pool and tennis courts. As we neared the track field, we noticed a figure running rapidly around the track. To our utter astonishment, it was BOB HARRIS, the Southwest's leading track and football star. Slowing his pace, he assured us that he had not lost his mind, but that he was only running because he had over-eaten at dinner and was intent upon keeping in shape, Bewildered as we were, Kay and I advanced to the area of the swimming pool, where we were greet- ed by MARIE STANFIELD, who informed us that she was engaged to a wealthy oil man. Marie empha- sized the fact that she was indeed happy to be giving up her career as a model to become the wife of Reginald Vanderpoole. Regardless of the fact that I had enjoyed the evening's festivities, I made my apologies, remarking that I had left a patient in a coma to attend the affair, and departed in order to return to the hospital. Upon my return, Iwas met by my favorite nurse, Agnes Gooch, who revealed the shocking news that my patient had died on the operating table. She continued by stating that the patient's dying words were: It was TOO much!
