Chairman's Message As Greenhill School completes its fifth year of growth, it looks forward with confidence to even larger contributions to community welfare and culture in the future. Its splendid faculty and co-operative student body have done a magnificent iob in bringing the hopes of its founders to a more complete reali- zation. Building on a firm foundation, with enthusiasm and perfect teamwork, an inspiring and important center of training has been created that is continuing to grow in educational stature. lt is with pleasure and pride that I extend the thanks of the Board of Governors to all who have had a share in the astounding growth of this great school. They have rendered a brilliant service in the vital task of advancing educational training in their community. Here at Greenhill, his spirit of co-operation in each of his classes as well as the many activities he has taken part in has been out- standing. Harold hasn't let a marking period go by this year without earning a position on the honor roll. Harold's gracious and unceasing hospitality has added a final touch to every holiday and school event. Everyone agrees that his influence and man- aging ability as Assistant Editor of the Annual has been a major contribution to its success. Unless we're very much mistaken, Harold's sixth sense genius with the stock market as well as all other business ventures will provide him with a profitable, comfortable, and successful future. Harold plans to enter the Univer- sity of Texas next fall arid later he plans to do graduate work at Harvard. Mac is an excellent repairman. The things he usually repairs, though, are girls' broken hearts. A non-eligible member of the Greenhill Bachelor's Club, he takes special pride in his patients. The thing that is most interesting about his case, though, is that his patients usually take a particular interest in himl Jerry's bright remarks have often lightened many a dull moment. Next year Jerry plans to enter Wheaton College in Illinois to study Christian Education. Like a twig that has floated easily down a stream only to be rushed quickly and violently over a rapid, we will miss you, Jerry, but we know that you will be happy and contribute as much to others as you have to us here. This can be verified by a glance at any of the honor rolls during the last three years. His intellectual curiosity not only stimulated his educational interest, but earned him the Balfour Award in 1954. This honor is bestowed on the student who proves himself superior not only in academic work but all around citizenship and achievement. Bill is noted at Greenhill for his knowledge of firearms, his unique sense of humor and his aversion to women. It is certain that Greenhill will long remember Bill Caruth. QW! Having come to Greenhill from Highland Park at the beginning of his senior year, he has made many friends and influenced many poker and pool games. .lay is one of the friendliest personalities of the Senior Class. This and his wit make him a hit with the students and teachers. His outstanding abilities as a student, thus far, are to good-naturedly an' tagonize the teachers and to worry about tests. Although Jay is rather small in height, he is a very good athlete, and is a fair player except in poker! After graduation Jay plans to enter Oklahoma University where he will major in business administration. There is no doubt that Jay will make many friends at O. JOHN TATUM GREEN John, one of the first sutdents enrolled when Greenhill opened in the fall of 1950, has always been one of the school's favorites. During his first year at Greenhill when he was in the eighth grade, John was elected favorite middle school boy. This honor was followed by similar honors during his freshman, sophomore and iunior years. Being well known not only in class activities but also in the sports field, John has always turned in a good performance on the gridiron, diamond, basketball court and track field. He has lettered in all of these sports and was awarded the best athlete medal during his sophomore year. Among John's many interests is a consuming interest in fishing. When spring comes, John is frequently found ata nearby pond or lake. Lesser students wonder how John manages to participate in so many extra- curricular activities and still be able to maintain his high grades. It's duck soup to John! John plans to enter Texas University in the fall where he will seek a BBA in executive management. We at Greenhill wish him lots of luck and know that he will succeed in the future as he has in the past. 1 -9 Q.,Q.Q.3-:t!v0'M1LwQw 492 0 W, , W Entered-September 1953 From-Highland Park High School Cavalcaders 1954, 1955 Christmas Play 1953, 1954 French Club 1954 Dramatics Club 1954 Modern Dance Club 1954 Senior Favorite 1955 Junior Club 1954 Annual Staff 1955 Probable College-Texas Tech DOLORES MARIE HAMRAH Our little Arabian Princess is one of the most interesting students at Greenhill. Her promptness in the mornings is one of her most distinguishable characteristics. Dee's ambition is deeply buried within her small frame. In fact she is so undecided about the future that she makes frequent trips to the local fortune teller. Her choice for college seems to be Texas Tech. With only sixteen men on the team they did not win any games, but the spirit that has always been with Greenhill teams was there in fans and players alike. A new coach arrived this year to replace '6Coach Leathers. who left Greenhill to go into private business. Rob- ert Conlee was the new coach and. having been a traek man, he gave the hoys a vigorous workout and lots of laps. Also new this year was Pat Nelson. the largest man on the team. Pat came to Greenhill from North Dallas. As he was co-captain of the team, fullback, and the man who calls defensive plays. Pat had a full time joh which he did well. Co-captain along with Pat was Butch Robertson. a two letter man. The games were played in either deep mud or very thick dust, hut they were played well, hard and Clean. The hoys all had lots of fun this year and wish to express their thanks to Coach Conleefi Football Squad Left to right- Front row: Walter Reeves, Butch Jenkins, Sammy Ventura, Jay Glazer, John Henry, Jim Moore, Jack Griffin, Steve Davis.
