Class. History In the month of September, 1955, forty sad looking students moved slowly toward the Freshman homeroom. We all breathed a sigh of relief for we realized we had finally made the grade - we were now Freshmen. This would be the first of the last four rungs in our school ladder in our effort to reach the top. We had no initiation, but slowly we began to take on the appearance of high school students. Under the guidance of our homeroom adviser, Mr. Dornbrock, and our class officers, Ronnie Kenreich, Presidentg Nancy Baird, Vice-Presidentg Iva Shoff, Secretary-Treasurer, we began our new life. Everyone's thoughts were turning more and more toward various ways through which we might raise money to cover the expenses of our future Senior trip. As we entered upon the next rung of the ladder, our Sophomore year in 1956, we had full knowledge of what high school really was. This year our homeroom life was under the leadership of Mr. Dornbrock and the feminine part of our class, for our class officers were: Nancy Baird, President: Iva Shoff, Vice-President, and Mary Hoprich, Secretary-Treasurer. Our life was filled with both athletic contests and social gather- ings. In the fall of 1957 we entered our Junior year with the anticipation of looking for- ward during the year to that rung of the ladder, Mr, Pucci, our homeroom adviser, supervised the choosing of our class officers who were: Nancy Baird, President, Gary Olin, Vice-Presidentg Mary Hoprich, Secretary, Ronnie Kenreieh, Treasurer. Before a week had gone by there was a class meeting to choose our class rings. After much discussion, a particular design was agreed upon. Many long and exciting hours of enjoyable work went into the presentation of our play No Boys Allowed under the direction of Mrs. I-Iorm. For activities for raising money we chose to have a stamp drive and a paper drive, Both turned out very successfully due to everyones undivided co-operation. The big year had arrived and we were dignified Seniors at last. It also meant we had reached the top rung of our school ladder . We presented a play It's Great To Be Crazy directed by Mrs. I-Iorm. Our many thanks to Mrs. Horm for relinquishing her time to direct our Junior and Senior plays. We were fortunate to receive the football concession stand and the basketball concession stand. Both were a great help to our class. For our Senior year we retained our previous class officers. We had a. class meeting to decide where to have our pictures taken. The lucky man was Mr. Dimit. Some of the boys said that they just had to have their pictures taken over again! Could it have been because of that receptionist? Our pictures arrived shortly after Christmas and the by-word became May I have a picture? The warmth of spring crept upon us and soon we saw Baccalaureate past. On Commencement night we transferred our tassels from the left to the right side, as we received our diplomas, our reward for twelve years of study. This is just the beginning of the history of the class of 1959 as we go to seek our respective places in the worldg knowing that some will be content to stay at the top of their school ladder , while others will climb still greater ladders in this world of opportunity.
