Homecoming 1970 Charles Preusser opened the pep assembly with the Mayor's proclamation. The Varsity football players were in the limelight as Coach Trotalli introduced the starting lineup. It was obvious that Homecoming 1970 was under way when Kris Downey and Frank Szarzynski were elected queen and the week of October 12-17. The real action started with the bonfire on Thursday. Friday morning, senior girls received 1 their green and gold mums. The skits were given that after- noon, and what a cry arose when it was announced that the class of 1971 had won the skit competition. The juniors vowed to win the float competition - and did, with LOOKS LIKE WE'LL DUNK 'EM, DON-UT. Kris and her court were in- troduced during the halftime of the game against Greendale. The weekend was climaxed with the crowning of Kris and Frank at Scarborough Fair? Coach Trotalli's life was the theme of the skit that won the class of'7l first place in the skit compe tition for the second time in a row. The faculty skit included a solo by Johnny Cash QMiss Greilj who was accompanied by his wife QMr. Rabej. 46 K king by an all-school vote. Many activities were planned for it 1

Carry Lots of Goodwill l guests. time together. 45 Elmo is proud of the fact' that his father makes the beverage which he is presenting Mr. Rebholz. Elmo, who is here on a brand new plan that allows for a student to stay in one place for three months instead of the usual school year, enjoys reading and music. He attends a college in Recife, Brazil, and will return there upon his return. His sister is also an A.F.A. stu- dent, she lives in New Mexico. Elmo's parents are Mr. and Mrs. G. Franciskovic. This year, we had two students under the A.F.S. program visit Greenfield and stay with families. Darjo Tercic, who came to us from Yugoslavia, and Elmo Carneiro, from Brazil, were our special The first thing that Darjo noticed was the flat countryside of the U.S. I used to live among the mountains, rivers, woods. He, like many others who live in the U.S., is bothered by the amount of pol- lution that we have. Darjo especially liked the American foods and parties. Most of all, the students made him feel very much at home. He stayed with the Felske family. Because of common interests, Mike Felske and his brother, Darjo, spent much

The huge bonfire that started Homecoming weekend was lit on Thursday, October l5.
