First U ndefeatea' Wrestling Season VARSITY WRESTLING bot- tom row: Kevin Morin, Chuck Karpfinger, Scott Fails, Bob Kamenski, Pete Ruszkiewicz, Mike Haase, Paul Ruszkiewicz. row two: Coach Ron Young- bauer, Dave Byington, Dean Braaten, Mike Schultz, Bill Bradshaw, Bill Mitchell, Ron Brzozowksi, Mike Jarecki. The season started slowly with undecisive victories over young teams. The last dual meet of the year was against Franklin, two-year Conference Champs. GHS remained undefeated with eleven wins and no losses. The Grapplers took Conference but had to share the title with Franklin. The Sectional meet saw GHS place fourth, with Ron Brzozowski being the only wrestler to qualify for the State meet. The rest of the team awaits their turn as Kevin Morin breaks down his opponent. McGrady of Eisenhower gets caught in his secret Japanese Roll by GHS's Pete Ruszkiewicz. Our GHS cagers, along with Coach Halstead, anticipated an exciting season. The Hustlin' Hawks assembled a five win, twelve loss conference record. This mark placed them seventh in the final standings. The Hawks placed one player, Jon Hilton, on the second string of the All- Conference team. Two other players, Jurg Adam and Larry Palmtag, made Honorable Mention.
