Jack certainly has made a name for himself as an ardent sportsman. A member of the Exponent staff, Jack's column, Hints For Hunters , has been a source of interest and valuable information for all. He has participated in the Archery and Bowling Clubs and acted in the Senior Play, Meet Me in St. Louis. DONALD BURTON FLOOD FIoodie Ambition - Machine shop worker Hobby - Collect- Favorite Saying - You don't say. ing oddities Donald has spent the time he has had free from the Vocational School machine shop in collecting miscellaneous objects, large and small. He must have quite a collection by now. Donald has our wishes for the best of luck in the years to come. JOSEPH FREDETTE i'J0e Ambition - Store Manager Hobby - Roller skating As Joe's time is quite well occupied by the First National Store, he has not taken part in any extra acti- vities inside of school. This vocational student hopes to be a store manager after a time. One way to achieve that goal is to start out at the bottom as Joe is and work one's way to the top. Some of Joe's spare time is spent rollerskating. ELINOR MAE FRENCH Tootsie Ambition - Be a practical nurse Hobby - Roller- 'e a in Crimmers sakes skating Favorit S y g - Elinor is another member of our class who has been just too busy with her school work and out- side activities to have much time for added acti- vities in school. During her Junior year, Elinor played intramural basketball, and this past year she has served on the photography committee of the Emerald. ARLINE MARGARET GAGNON i Nonnie Ambition - Go to Deerfield Hobby - Deerfield, Rita's Academy Favorite Saying - Shoot Arline, a commercial student from Room 15, has re- ceived the 5 min. 60 and 80 certificates in shorthand and the forty word bronze medal in typing. Between win- ning awards and sitting in Rita's, Arline has not had very much time to devote to extra-curricular activities. THOMAS HENRY GAVIN Gao Ambition - To be a certified public Hobby - A8cP accountant Favorite Saying - Got your homework done? As the hobby, A8zP , implies, Gav has had little time for extra-curricular activities. It is commendable to note that he has worked part- time throughout high school and still been able to keep up his progress in the classroom.

Bob was a member of the football team during his first year at G.H.S. and was on the basketball team during his Sophomore and Junior years. ROBERT PAUL EDMONDS Rookie Ambition - Tap dancer Hobby - Dancing and girls Favorite Saying - You better watch that stuff Rookie will be remembered for the tap dance exhibition he gave at the school dances and musi- cal shows. He captivated the hearts of all, and he always was sure of an encore. Rookie played intramural basketball in his Junior and Senior years, and he was in the musical show all three years. Rookie was also a member of the Boys' glee1Club and took part in the History of the aro s. RIELLA EMERY Ambition - Join navy Hobby - Rita's Favorite Saying - Shoot Riella, our snappy cheerleader captain, has actively participated in basketball and field hockey in her years at G.H.S. Vice President of Student Council and Secre- tary of her class, Riella has done her share in joining school extracurricular activities. The coming years should not be dull for Riella if her ambition is realized. ER WIN ARTHUR ENDERLE Erwin Ambition - To have a tank full Hobby - Getting of gas in the car Barb mad in just once Rm. 26 Favorite Saying - What d'ya say Erwin is a member of our class who has not participated in many school affairs. In his Senior year, however, he was an active member of the Bowling Club. BERNARD THOMAS ETHIER Bernie Ambition - Successful artist Hobby - Painting, winter sports Favorite Saying - How about that now! Besides having charge of the art work in this year- book, Bernie has been quite active in other school acti- vities. Who can forget Bernie's realistic portrayal of Lon , .Mr. Smith's son, in the Senior Play? When Bernie was a Sophomore, he took an active part in the Archery Club. Also, for the past two years, he has been a member of the Forum. In his Senior year he has served on the Program Committee of that group. DAVID OSCAR PAY lIDaUeYY Ambition - Go to California Hobby - Women Favorite Saying - Think I care Dave certainly has been the spark of life in many classrooms. Besides his hobby of Women Dave has been active in sports. He participated three years in'intramural basketball and was manager of the football teams in '48 and '49. Dave was a member of Hi-Y and, in his Sopho- more year, was an active member of the Archery C-lub. Dave wants to go to California someday. FRANCESE MAY GOODALE A'Fran Ambition - X-ray Technician Hobby - 166 Conway St. Favorite Saying - You don't say Although not too active in school activities in her Sophomore year, Fran has made up for this by her participation in several organizations since that time. Among these groups may be named the Bowling Club, the Glee Club, and the Football Dance Committee. Then, too, Fran took part in intramural basketball in her Junior and Senior years. As far as commercial awards are concerned, Fran has taken her share of those, also. She has been awarded the Theory Certifi- gate, the 5 min. 60 Certificate, and the O.G.A. Certi- cate. JOHN MICHAEL GRADER U Huntsie Ambition - Take a long trip Hobby - Baseball, Favorite Saying - Of course hunting, and fishing Huntsie's strong right arm hasilgiven plenty of help to the baseball team. He really has whizzed the ball over and has been one of the mainstays of the club. Besides playing baseball in his Junior and Senior years, Huntsie went out for track his Junior year and played intramural basketball all three years. Huntsie has been in Hi-Y and Arch- ery Club in his Sophomore and Junior years. In his Senior year he participated in the Forum. MINNIE JOSEPHINE GRAVELINE Mickie Ambition - Working Hobby - Eating Favorite Saying - Oh Lord! stop it! Mickie has been 'a member of the Sympathy Com- mittee and has served on the Oneonta Social and Foot- ball Dance committees during her Senior year at G.H.S. An energetic member of the class, she states that her ambition is working and no one can deny that Mickie's hobby is impractical, for she states that it is eating. CONSTANCE GRAVES Horsey Ambition - Travel and meet Hobby - Horses and people sports Favorite Saying - What can you do? Besides serving as Vice-President of the Bowling Club in her Senior year, Connie has served on the make-up committee for the Senior play and the art committee of the Emerald. For excellence in shorthand, she has been awarded the 5 min. 60 certificate. Connie has also been active in the sports field, playing intramural basketball for two years. RONALD HENDERSON GRAVES Ron Ambition - Store manager Hobby - Sports Favorite Saying - Don't put off till tomorrow what you can do today ' Ron has proved that he has an interest in sports by being an active participant in intramural.basketball for the past two years. This active vocational student has also been a member of the high school band while an underclassman. His afternoon work at the Growers' Outlet has prevented him from participating in any other school activities. ORIN WENDELL GURNEY Orin Ambition - Body man Hobby - Driving Orin is an active member of the Vocational School. He played intramural basketball during his three years at G.H.S. He was also Class Trea- surer in his Sophomore year. Since his hobby is driving, Orin has to watch out for those ever- dangerous women drivers.
