JUNIOR PLAY On Friday evening, April 9, lhe Junior Class ol I954 presenled lheir class play, Falher Was A Housewife, lo a large and apprecialive audience in lhe high school audilorium. Y' The play, a lhree-acl comedy, crealed a silualion where lhe husband did lhe house work in order lo wrile songs and his wile worked away from home all day in order lo make a living. This, ol course, caused much conlusion in lhe household and prevenled lhe lwins' living a normal lile. The play was produced by special arrangemenl wilh Row, Pelerson and Company. Glenna Walker Dailey enfered our school fhis year. Many of us sfarfed sfamp books, which, when filled, were exchanged for U. S. War Bonds. ln fhe fourfh grade we confinued our mulfiplicafion fables and sfarfed learning his- 'lory and geography. We were given pafch fesfs fo check our suscepfibilify fo fuber- culosis. Mrs. Lowe and Mrs. Maris fraveled fhrough fhis year wifh us. Our new sfudenfs fhis year were Neva Hewiff and Judifh Shore. When we enfered Deparfmenfal in fiffh grade, we were inifiafed fo fhe mefhod of hav- ing differenf feachers for our differenf classes. Finally, Mr. Sink came fo our rescue and fold us where room 30l was. In fhe eighfh grade we were ioined by our only class fwins, James and John Hollis. During fhese fwo years our iunior high baskefball feam was preparing ifself fo meef fhe many baffles which would occur in fhe nexf four years. During our 'Freshman year we were led fhrough fhe infricacies of algebra, Lafin, and biology. We quiefly suffered fhe delicafe aromas of lab days and all fhe for- fures of dissecfing grasshoppers, sfarfish, and ofher animals of fhe lower sfrafa. Wifh fhe addifion of Charlofle Bullis, Richard Donahue, Lewis Hardin, Marvin Mclnfire, and Gene Spencer, we broke all records in G. H. S. wifh fhe largesf freshman en- rollmenf. Some new clubs and organizafions were sfarfed during our sophomore year: fhese were Sfudenf Council, Girls' Afhlefic Associafion, Tiger Club, Tri-Hi-Y, and Hi-Y. The Greenfield Tigers won fhe Secfional by beafing Wilkinson, wenf on fo beaf Speedway in fhe firsf game of fhe Regional, and losf fhe lasf game fo Tech of Indianapolis. To keep us consfanfly busy during our junior year, we ordered and received our beau- fiful class rings, sold friendship books in order fo increase our freasury, presenfed our -class play, Mofher ls A Freshman, and honored fhe seniors wifh fhe Junior-Senior Prom. We also sold concessions af fhe foofball and baskefball games and enfered a floaf in fhe Homecoming Parade. Judy Wells and Janice Cole came info our class fhis year. We saw faking place in our school many physical changes which included new lighfing, newly painfed halls and rooms, new desks, acousfically freafed audi- forium and halls, and a few new rooms added by parfifioning. Af lasf as seniors we reached fhe fwelffh year of our educafional journey. Jane Haines was chosen Homecoming Queen, and one of our girls was crowned Prom Queen. We ordered cards and invifafions and fook advanfage of fhe chance fo wear senior cords. We gave fhe Senior Play, Losf Horizon, in December. We franfically worked fo meef deadlines for fhe Camaraderie and Rileyan g and fhen, before we knew if, Senior Week had arrived wifh ifs many acfivifies: Junior-Senior Prom, Senior Picnic, Baccalaureafe, Commencemenf, and Alumni Banquef. All enjoyed Thanksgiving vacafion. DECEMBER December broughf several excifing evenfs 'ro G. H. S. The speech class fraveled fo Purdue Uni- versify for an exfemporaneous speech acfivify.
