CLA. .mf wtf-T ul k G h Epp 1 d h F B I1 rv W B ld y W f FOOTBALL Although the football season of 1929 can not be termed successful from the victory standpoint a great deal of benefit was derived Manhood and char acter were developed which 1n the long run is better than a sensational victory record This year no matter how great the obstacles vsere the never failing Tiger spirit fight and grit was quite evident and always noticeable ir the playing of the 1929 team Coach Hinshaw facing one of the stiffest schedules that a Tiger team ever played had a very few experienced men to mold his team around The rest were inexperienced but however showed the determination to make good The Four Horsemen of Greenfield football fate rode hand in hand through out the season masked as inexperienced team hard schedule injury to play ers and lack of weight But hovxever with the return of eight letter men and a very promising scrub team the future of Greenfield High School in football should be brighter A very attractive schedule of nine games IS to be played next year The Tigers have games with Shelbyville, Connersville Rushvllle, Wilkinson Washington Klndranapolisj New Castle, Noblesville Bloomington, and Knightstown Elwood was dropped from the schedule after many years of football relations Page Forty Fwe 4 1 W -A ... Red and White 16 14 in a terrific battle that was undecided until the last ten seconds of the game In the next game the Tigers were surprised by Nobles ville by the score of 33 27 In the last scheduled game the Tigers ran wild over the Manual netters piling up the largest score of the year 53 23 ln the sectional the Tigers met and defeated the formidable Fortville quin tet 24 14 but in the semifinal game the Tigers were the victims of circum stances and were nosed out by the New Palestine Dragons 19 18 Taking the season as a whole the Tigers made a very impressive record of 14 games won and 8 lost Some of the most notable achievements were W victories over Marion. After this program, Ward Sexson, president of the Junior class, led Char- lotte Johnson president of the Senior Class of '28 in the grand march from the auditorium to the third floor where the entertainment continued. This march was unique as it proved to be a March in the Dark the vsay lighted here and there with flashlights The room was decorated in true Wonderland style thanks to the splen did work of Mr Anthony Dorsett The figures of Felix kings queens and lacks were placed in different parts of the room and in one corner a large cow peacefully gra7ed serving as a punch stand Abbotts Orchestra which proved to be 1 rn al of Charles Davis and his gang was enclosed by lattice work twined with flowers In the center of the room stood a rose tree from which the roses were taken as souvenirs Refreshments of ice cream heart shaped cakes and almonds were served by Sophomore girls dressed in costumes decorated with hearts diamonds spades and clubs Favors of balloons with whistles were given The dance was on and with the confetti and serpentine thrown about this proved to be a gay carnival scene What' Is it time to go?
