The weather was even attuned to the oc- cassion. Well, almost so. It didn't start raining until around six o' clock. But despite or perhaps in spite of the weather the football team was vic- torious. This set the stage for an evening of dancing in the gym. The highlight of the evening was the crowning of the homecoming queen. This annual event is one of the high points of our school year. Thanks, underclassmen and everybody for making it such a nice memory. The Senior Class of 1955-56 28 66660, 14 M45 Cl WE ,liz r Ui , M , ' 1 -Q v. The purpose of the student council is to provide a working model of governmental unit under which students will live. The council is one of the most progressive organizations operating in our school. Mr. Eberle has done a splendid job in guiding these young people who represent the entire student body. Among some of the contributions made by the council to the school have been the planting of flowers and scrubs on the campus, the purchase and installation of two lighted display cases and last but certainly far from least the planning and carrying out of the homecoming. The student council represents YOU so you in turn should be proud to give them the support necessary to perform this task to the best of their ability. SL' .'s: I '44 The school year 1955-56 has been an interesting one in many respects. However, one outstanding event of this year was the construction of a grand, new, and modern grade school building. We had hoped to be in it by the close of school but we didn't make it. Many feel it better to wait until fall and then the students can make both the adjustment to a. new school and a new school building at the same time. We are indeed proud of this addition to our present facilities. We seniors will be pleased to have our children attend school in this building someday. Special note should be given to: S. M. The theme was unique and very well carried out. As you en- tered the gym, you were greetedwitha sign say- ing La Chambre Rouge Qmeaning the red room D. The en- tire gym carried the French theme. The north end was given to a French sidewalk cafe Qnamed Le Petit Cafe l complete to tables and chairs. The band occupied space under the canopy forming the cafe. The main point of interest in the room was a huge crystal ball suspended from the ceiling in the center of the floor. It was flooded with four spot lights. To add a final touch the globe revolved. All in all it was a very memorable prom. This page sponsored by HEATON AND SOOY HARDWARE Manchester. We have purposefully reserved the last page in the 1956 Shere Khan for the staff. It is only through a combined effort can we ever hope to a- chieve anything coming even close to a successful yearbook. Therefore, we the staff want to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of your faithful seniors who sold ads, books etc. and the rest of the student body who thought enough of their school to want a annual. We hope it will bring you one tenth of the pleasure it has brought us in compiling this year's Shere Khan. THE SHERE KHAN STAFF 68
