So Coach Farrar organized a new zone defense and set it up to try on New Carlisle in the Holiday Tourney but the Tigers averaged an amazing 42 percent from the floor to leave the Bulldogs behind. Green bounced back and won the consolation game by defeating Rolling Prairie to avenge an earlier season loss to them. Armed with the new defense, the Bulldogs went all out to win three of their next four games from such opponents as Madison, Lakeville, and Hamlet. RUVIHG THUPHU By defeating the Lakeville Trojans the Greene team became the proud possessor of the Roving Trophy and was successful in retaining possession of it by winning the rest of the regularlv scheduled county games The teams who had previously held the trophy were not successful in retaining it for more then one game BUUHTU TRUPHU In the drawings for the County Tourney Greene advantageously drew the bye and thus was automatically put in the semi finals where they upset the Strongly favored Walkerton Indians who were in top place among the county teams This upset put Greene into the finals to face the Madison Panthers but the Bulldogs experienced an extremely cold night from the floor hitting only 17 per cent and were defeated As a result of their hard work and good sportsmanship Bill Zapalski and Harvey Wolff received much coveted trophies. Bill was voted by his team-mates as most valuable player and received that trophy as well as receiving the Free Throw trophy for having had the highest percentage of free-throws made.
