On die following Friday night we traveled to Tripoli where we met strong opposition, but came back to win 25-13 in the last half. Greene's next game was with Riceville in our conference opener. We came out to prove that we could repeat as conference champs by winning 26-6. Next we went to Nora Springs to win our second conference game by defeating the Eagles 27-8. We then played Manly to hand them their first defeat of the year by beating them 26-6 on their own field. We played St, Ansgar for our Homecoming, to win by a score of 40-19, for our fourth con- secutive conference game. We defeated Rockford next, on their field, winning 27-13 after a hard fought game, Greene played Nashua on Dad's Night. We came from behind in the second half to win 20-7. RURAL SCHOOLS This year the schools of the area operated for the first time as the Greene Community School District. Because of the lack of building space, these rural schools were kept in opera- tion under the supervision of the community district. It will be necessary to continue some of these until a new elementary building is constructed. Some additional services were offered to these schools, such as transportation and attendance at assem - bly programs held in the High School Auditorium. All Eighth grade pupils of the area were brought in to the town school. Plans are underway for more help and supervision for these schools during the coming years.
