For on that date the annual Freshmen Initiation Party was held in the High School Assembly. They had many tasks to perform before the evening ended. Some of them went on the Honeymoon Race which consisted of dressing and undressing in old clothes, putting them in a suitcase in a given length of time. Others were in a Potato Race, this was dancing with a potato between their foreheads. lf either were to lose the po- tato they were put out of the contest. On the Fridav before, the Freshmen girls wore their dresses wrong side out. They boys wore their shirts wrong side out also. They had to wear one of their dad's overshoes. Later, refreshments were served by the Seniors. Both the Fresh- men and upper classmen enjoyed the evening. ACTIVITIES 7 4 x M!! 'X If I x I 148 , qi few Ix S A jx K! rf' I I X I' I fp ' I, s . Bein the floats were not judged on this night time pep meeting was held at the bonfire-in- stead of on Traer Street. After the pep meeting and bonfire we all joined in a snake dance that took us up town. With several cheers the Pep Rally came to an end. On Friday night of Homecoming Week we had our annual float parade. Each high school class, Pep Club, and Junior High were entered with the Junior High taking honors. Their float had a wildcat taking a lap out of a bowl with the motto Last Lap Before Defeat . The Freshman float was Stout-Hearted Men with Jane Allison and Jerry Maxson sitting beside a big red heart. The Sophomore entry in the float parade was a barber shop with the motto Clip Riceville . The Junior float was Rice being boiled over from a bowl with the motto Boil Riceville Over . A freight train with the motto We are not a freight, we're trained to win. was the Senior float. The best decorated bicycle and tricycle floats went to Ferol Senne and Karen Curtis.
