HISTORY OF CLASS OF 1957 The corn was green that year 1953 to be sure but we were even greener Unbeltevably nalve and oh so gullible ll seems now As we the class of 1957 look forward we realize our hugh school days are comlng to an end Soon we must leave our Alma Mater but we shall always cherush our frlendshlps here begun In September of 1953 one hundred twenty of us entered G H S to began our Green Year We were awkward and bashful at flrst We selected Mallard Rock Andy Reymer Rosle Pune and Lots Meyers to lead us through thus ftrst confused year of hugh school A pucnlc ln the sprung Included a trlp to Fort Fredrnck and the Antletam Battle Fleld Several of us entered protects an the Sclence Farr The Gym Team Clrcus shall always llnger In our memortes wlth all of tts laughs thrllls and the beauty of the Circus Court When we entered G H S ln the fall of 54 we were no longer the greenres but sophlstlcated sophomores Demerlts were now ancuent hlstory Many of us partlclpated ln assembly programs clubs fleld trtps we also found many new experlences an buology Richard Hale Mlllard Rock Peggy Welch and Nancy Shoop were elected to be our class offncers We also chose members to represent our class ln Student Councll September of 1955 and we were actually upperclassmenl' For our class officers we chose Rlchard Hale Mtllard Rock Nancy Shoop and Lots Meyers The hrgh lrghts of the year took place later that following autumn when we chose our class motto colors and flower plus ordenng our class rlngs packets hats and pennants Aprll we presented our flrst play The Ltttle Dog Laughed under the dtrectlon of Mrs Kemmler Now we can laugh about our excutement over appearlng In our flrst evenlng gowns to usher and weanng our flrst corsages Flnally on September 5 1956 the class of 57 entered G l-l S as the mtghty senlorsll An lnexpresslble mlxture of loy and pride and sadness ftll our hearts as we approach Graduatlon Day We selected Rlchard Hale Eddne Baum gardner Nancy Shoop and Rosle Pune to lead us through our fnnal year at G H S Our class play A Double Barrelled Detectlve Story was presented In December under the dlrectnon of Mrs Kemmler Colao made our senlor class plctures tn No vember The l-lollday Affanr was celebrated vvnth a party at the Sportman s Farm where we exchanged class pnctures Instead of the customary gufts To ranse money for our New York trap we held a Bazaar whnch was a bug success The Sentor Faculty game was also quite a hut had lots of fun even though we were defeated We look forward to our last Assembly Program three day trap to New York Commencement and belng guests of the Junlors at the Prom Our goal IS successll We will strlve to do our best nn llfe and Wlth ropes of the past, we ll rung the bells of the future Colors Black and White Flower Whute Gardenla Class Advisor Mlss Phllllppy Sponsored by GROVE MANUFACTURING COMPANY W. i , I . , .
