PROPHECY As I gaze into the huge'mirror in front of me, I recall the mirror which was used in the publication of my class's yearbook. Last night I again had the privilege of gazing into this famous looking-glass. At once I saw Shirley The Shape Ambrose, standing in front of M-G-M movie camera. Also working on the set were Lorraine Metcalf, Betty Lesher, and Peggy Goetz, who were make- up artists. Becoming more interested, I stepped into this mirror but to my amazement I found my- self on a street in the dovmtown section of Greencastle. I turned around and noticed a sign which read, lalopy Used Cars , Frank Johnston, Prop. Imagine my surprise when I saw Fred Ferry polishing somebody's car along the street. He told me that he was getting publicity for his new garage. Later as I shook hands with the Hon. Eddie Smith, along came Peggy Myers, his chief vote-getter. Peg told me that he was running for State Senator again this year. His bill, on prohibiting doe season was recently passed by the legislature. Feeling hungry, I went to the tovm's favorite restaurant operated by Coldsmith and Rock, I was served a tasty meal by the waitress, Lois Hartman, Suddenly, Iheard a commotion out- side. Chief of Police Shank caught Max Keckler for speeding, Joe's Ford and Constable Kennedy's Olds SS couldn't catch t e atomic convertible owned and operated by loan Pensinger. She is on the loose again due to the fact that she just divorced her third husband. Going inside the new school, I was greeted by Joanne Brewbaker P. D. Q. , and lane Walker, A.B.C., teachers of social studies. They told me they have a terrible time keeping Lois Lesher's children quiet in classrooms. Ruth Keckler was the new school nurse. Also working as secretaries in local business offices are Lois I-leefner, Dot Helmuth, Delores Ommert, Norma Jean Bear and Dorothy Black. I visited Max Stenger's Record Shop where I heard the latest record Homesick Blues by the Bonebrake Sisters, Patsy and Delores. Walking on, I bought a newspaper at Rotz's newstand. The paper,THE WINDY BLAB, was published dai y by the former moonshiner of the Pine Hills, Harry T. Goetz. His chief reporter was Mary Lou Eshleman, Bob Walck, still a bachelor, was the sports editor. In the classified section an ad stated that Mick Biser had just lowered the rates on his bus service to Hagerstown. Some of the interesting news items were: Gerald Rock was elected President of the Greencastle Sportsman Associationg Jim Stenger, B. S. , is teaching Physical Education in Hagerstown High, Maynard Keckler's meat market business went bankrupt. On the Science Page I saw in big letters across the top, Earthling Returns from Moontrip. Below I read that Dr. Joe Zarger's stratospheric rocket ship finally came home after three years flight. He and Dr. Bob Crider disproved the theory that the moon is made of green cheese. Under birth announcements, I saw that Dale and Anna announced the birth of triplets. They asked Shirley Talhelm, head nurse, and Pauline Lindsay, assistant, to enlarge the nursery of the local hospital. Q77
