The election of home room officers and the appointment of the committees has ocrnrred every six weeks. lfarlv in October we had onr class elertion and later in the month had onr semi-annual trip to Cold gprings Park. livery month seemed to hold in store something new and different for ns. On November 1, we voted for our class rings bnt were disappointed when we tonnd ont we would not get them before Christmas, ,Xt Christmas the home room committee decorated a tree and sponsored a party at which gifts were exchange. lzntertannnent was supplied by a tew ot our mnsie talented classmates while all of us joined in singing Christmas carols. On December 31 onr class rings arrived, and sneh a waving of hands and swinging of arms has never been displayed. 'llhen in February we began to think of onr class colors and song. On the thirteenth of February the class had a meeting' for the decision of onr colors. song. motto, flower, and play. Columbia blne and white were voted for the colorsg onr song' was written by Betty Bryan to the tune of uSl'liIlll1ZilCS Stand Togetlierf' Onr motto beeanie f'lJon't give np the ship. and the flower, red roses. liverytliing in onr decisions tnrned out to be patriotic. Our , pennants and caps were decided upon a few weeks later, the dink eap becoming the class hat. The president appointed a play committee, and after a week of reading plays, they de- eided on june Mad to be presented .-Xpril Z4 and 23, A cast ot six girls and seven boys took part in the play. VVe made our first contributions to our assemblies when we presented a program entitled The Trial of Fire in observance of Fire Prevention XYeek. October S to l-l. Examinations terminated the school term and wt eagerly looked forward to being sophomores. VYe became sophomores ready to accept additional responsibilities, and, with Miss Fletcher as our adviser, we elected officers and student council members for the year. Since our class con- tained 71 members, we were divided into two groups and had Room o and Room 9 as our home rooms. The girls also were taken into the Senior Tri-Hi-Y group. Our class has contributed to the many activities of the school, The junior lllee Club, composed of 33 boys and girls of the sophomore class. sang two patriotic numbers at a P. T. .'X. meeting held in the High School .'Xnditorinm. Later in the year. our group appeared in assem- bly to sing Finlandia, Song of the Island. and Dark liyes. Many of our members have been active in the athletic activities. VVe were represent- ed on the soccer team by Richard Miller, VVayne Rarnhart. and George VVingert. On the hockey team we were represented by Betty Shimer, Betty Henson. and Virginia Nlartin. XYe also have had many members participate in the intramural sports in which we have not been very success! ful, but we hope to have better results when we are upper classmen. Other scholastic activities have included the writing of essays and ballads and the making of posters. some of which have been exceptionally well done. The social events which many of our class enjoyed were the school Hallowe'en party and our class Christmas party. Feeling the Christmas spirit. we had a tree. exchanged gifts. and topped it off with refreshments and best wishes for a Merry Christmas to everyone. This year has brought us many new ideas. especially in our liuropean History class. and a secretary, every two weeks.
