wbp iBpIun ? I happened to be in the room when the c mmittee was selecting a name for the yearbook. I don't remember if I were officially on the committee or not, but anyway I suggested the name Pylon . I thought of names that I had seen on other school yearbooksg it semmed that they were all symbolic in nat- ure. The word Pylon came into my mind Kprobably due to Smiling Jack and the air raoesl and I liked it. I liked the sound of Pylon and it was packed full of sy- mbolism. When I suggested the name no one seemed to li- ke it because they did not know what 'Pylon' meant. I explained the significance of the word and did my best to persuade the group to accept my idea. In view of the fact that no one gave a competing title, they deoieded to take my suggestion. - Pylon is the name given to towers that mark the turning point of the roll course followed by airplanes in an air roll. The first pylon, however, was a building erected at the entrance of an Egyptain temple. The build ing looked like a truncated pyramid. Steel towers used for supporting telegraph lines are also known as pylons.
