FIRST LINEMEN 1. BROWN CASSELL - Senior-Quarter Back- 3 years- Captain-All-State 3rd Team. One of the finest quarter backs in the history of football at Green Bank High School. 2. RONALD MONK - Senior-End-3 years . Excel- lent pass receiver. Outstanding offensive player. 3. GEORGE JACKSON - Senior-Half Back-2 years. Rapidly developed into one of the most deceptive and devastating ball carriers. 4. DAVE TYSON - Senior-Tackle-2 years. One of the most rugged players. With more exper- ience he could have been an outstanding player in 1 955. 5. DAVE CROMER - Senior-Tackle-3 years.’ In- juries plagued his participation and kept him from reaching the peak of ability. 6. DONALD STARCHER - Senior - Half Back-3 years. Inactive most of senior year because of injury. One of the finest all-around players. 7. LYNDELL BROOKS- Senior-Ha If Back- 2 years. Had great desire to succeed. One hun- dred twenty pounds of dynamite. Leading scorer this past season. 8. TOM MATHENY - Junior-Full Back-2 years. Had great desire to play. Good ball carrier. Handicapped by injuries. 9. PHIL KERR - Junior-Center-3 years. Should develop into a great center. Has size and abi- lity. Excellent defensive linebacker. 10 . JOHN GAINER - J unior -Guard - 3 years - very aggresive. Pound for pound Green Bank's tough- est football player. 11. THURMAN SAMPSON - Junior-Guard-2 years. Can take and give punishment. With Gainer Green Bank was given the finest guards in the Valley. 12. EDDIE SHEETS - Junior-End-3 years. Two opposing coaches called h i m the best defensive end they had seen all year . Should be even great- er next year. 13. SAM TAYLOR - Junior-End-2 years. Out- standing defensive player. Has abilityto become good all-around player. 14. ALLEN MAHAFFEY - Junior-Half Back-2 years. Lost most of season through scholastic difficulties. Has possibilities of becoming one of Green Bank's best broken field runners. 15. JOHN BOSLEY - Sophomore-Tackle -2 years. All-State First Team. Only Sophomore to make All-State Team. Has ability to become Green Bank’s greatest football player.
