Sticks and Stones Dav after dav the field hoc kev plavers practiced outside in the heat. This year the rewards outweigh the trials the girls endured. Between the offense led hy Vicki Cahurian and the defense led hv Laura Perry, Coan h Midkiff was ahle to put together an awesome winning team. To name a few accomplishments, the team won the Tahh Tournament, heat Cox twhich we have never done heforei, and heat the Laffvette team that had a 1.2-0 record. However, the players didn't gust work. On Sundavs while watt hung home tapes they experimented with oriental food, lumpia, and nat hos. For sophomore initiation, the plavers had to wait for a rainv, muddy dav to have the sophomores plav swah the dec k in which thev roll in the mud. This helps them feel like part of the team . The vear's end was a sad time forthe field hoc kev team. Three of the star players, Holly Daniels, Vic ki Cahurain, and Laura Perrv are moving on to college. All three of then: are going on scholorship, and although the loss of these players will he great, the field hockey team will still rise to the challenge and he the hest they can he. 3 Bayside 1 Kempsville 2 Cox 1 Princess Anne 5 First Colonial 5 Kellam 2 Tabb 4 Laffyette 3 Bayside ., 2 Kempsville u ' 3' -,,-gf., 4 Cox 2 Princess Anne g ' 2 First Colonial ' f ' , 44' 1 3 Kellam G6 ya, Q . , ,,, ' 1 Kempsville I 'l L W X40 an M ,M In M41 1 lk A V . ,,,.v.,, . with V - 4, 4.wHM if .s 'elffalfsa SPORTS 'I Q5
