VVith a new German teach- er, lvls. Patsy VVillis, and high- ly motivated students. the club tackled its first challenge in Cctober. For the first time in Green Fiun history, the German club entered a float in the Homecoming parade. Club members marched be- hind the float dressed in traditional Cirndels and Lederhosen chanting cheers in German. Club officers, Sylvia l-lof- mann, Evan Cook, and Stephanie Downie, continued to stimulate the club with new ideas. Yummy German Gum- my Bears were sold in great quantities to raise money to attend the state convention Both the csrolers and the people they visited, enjoyed the German songs. Singing familiar carols in German was certainly an exciting way for the members to share their enthusiasm for the language with the community and fel- low students. The club was unioue be- cause it did not close its mem- bership to students who didn't take German. German dances were taught and prac- ticed and practiced. Foreigh Language Week was observed with bright dis- plays at Lynnhaven lvlall. The German club took big steps to make an impression. and let the school know that German is alive and well at Green Fiun. Histories! society: Row 1 -- P. Flores, Nl. Hen- na. L. Suiter, P. Delmar.
