H-,.,b.N ..----- -saws-1-6 41 3' Surviving With Bumps And Bruises Befallen by unforeseen cir- cumstances, the girls' gymnastic team suffered through a dis- appointing season. First-year coach Kolantis, after four years of coaching on the junior high level, was distraught by many hardships. Before the beginning of the season, the team lost a lot of ex- perience due to graduation. The 84-85 team ended up with ten sophomores and three seniors. Despite their inexperi- ence, fate had no pity as the team was stricken with a total of seven major injuries fto add to their sufferingsl. This year, gymnastics had a rebuilding year, expressed Ms. Kolantis, and through our adversities we grew as a team. ln a class all by himself, sophomore Matt Darby set a new school record of 47'3 in the triple jump and went an to win the state title. Participating in both wrestling and in the high jump in indoor track. Allen Valencia was one ofthe few two-sport athletes during the winter season. Putting distance between herself and her opponents, Julie Kohl took the lead in the l,000m.
