Muscles Muscles Muscles On the strength of just three wresders the wresthng teanw placed fifth in the state meet. lt was a great ending to a mediocre season. ln the regular season, we were 7f6 and finished in fourth place. We ddn?faNrnuchbeHeNnthedB- trict tournament as we finished fifth and had only one individual titlest, David Stoval in the 98 pound dass ln the regionals we advanced six wrestlers but only placed three wrestlers: Stoval f2ndl, Keith Wilson f2ndl, and Steve Diaz l3rdJ. Stoval, who had lost to Jody Jackson of Great Bridge in the regionals, was not favored in the materheeh butin the Hnah, Stoval won a thriller against George Mills of Robinson High School, barely winning lO-9. For Diaz at l38, he was not even expected to place in the state. After a shaky first round match winning 6-4, Diaz was neverchaHenged agahm He topled Karl Kronlage of W.T. Woodson in the finals, 2l-3, to win the state title. At l76, Wilson had to meet hs arch-nenvss, Rob Lannore of Kempsville in the state finals. lnthenpxewousrnatchesinthe Beach District and Eastern Re- gion finals, Wilson only lost by one point each. ln thefinals, Wil- sonledthroughoutrnostofthe rnatch but eventuaHylost 6-4, placing himself second in the state.
