This seoson wos supposed to be o rebuilding one for the lody stollionsg however, the teorn finished with o 6-7 record ond o berth in the district tour- nornent. Cooch Cindy Midkift deserves 164 Sportin' It much of the credit. The first doy of proctice the girls were trying to figure out which one wos their new cooch. lt didn't toke long for me to fit in. They sow how much I wonted to win. The teom wos olso foirly new. Losing key ployers to groduo- tion didn't hurt the teom too bodly. Kathy Huey wos o good motivotor. The woy she ployed, she got the teom oll psyched up. She wos olwoys hustling. Ally- son Hopper olso got the teom reody to ploy. She contributed the key gools. Pottie DeWitt led the defense from the gool coge, ond Debbie Breed wos our strong defender ot the center line. Two sophomores, Stosio Stroboch ond Mory Meode, mode importont contributions olso, soid Midkiff. Final score, GR 'l5, Kempsville 14. Coach Rhodes commented, Beating Kempsville the way we did, in the last minute of play for the district title, was definitely the highlight of my coaching ca- reef. Players as well as coaches ben- efitted from the season. Keith Wilson remarked, Without the hard work of the coaches and the dedication of the players we couldn't have gone as far.
