Mrs. Letitia Thompson We dedicate this 1970-71 yearbook to you Mrs. Thompson. For all the help you have given every- one, as a teacher in elementary and high school and now as our school librarian. You have been a friend as well as a teacher. Dedication L- is for librarian E- is for her enthusiasm T- is for her time spent as an advisor 1- is for her interest in everyone T- is for her thoughtfulness I- is for being an intimate friend to everyone A- is for her ambition in working with .students. Staff Della Ekker Editor Conra Weber Asst. Editor Janet Hatt Typist Connie Reay Bus. Manager Mr. Keith Wright Advisor 2 FOREWORD What does High School mean to each student at G. R. H. S. To the Jr. High it's something new and exciting, a challenge. To the Freshmen it's to be included in sports and the thrill of their Sweethearts Ball. To the Sophomores it's to study hard, for now the credits count, and let's make money. To the Juniors it's the prom, to make it the most enchanting. Then excite- ment of class rings. To the Seniors it's accepting a new responsibility, and leaving school and friends behind. Graduating. To the school as a whole it's unity, progress, and betterment of each individual. It's working together with fellow students to gain pride in our school. And the friendships we cherish at G. R. H. S. 3 Our School We’re loyal to you G. R. High. To the dear green and white G.R. High. We’ll back you to stand against the best in the land for we know you have sand G.R. High RAH! RAH! Go smash- ing ahead G.R. High. Go smash that blockade G. R. High. Our team is our fame protector on boys for we expect a victory from you G. R. High. Fling out that dear old flag of Green and White, for sons and daughters who are fighting for you like men of old and giants, facing re- liance, shouting defiance G. R. H. S. !! ! Amid the high old hills surrounding our land, for honest labor and for learning we stand, and unto you we pledge our hearts and hands, Dear Alma Mater G. R. High. 4 Administration PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Throughout life's journey there is opportunity for learning and growth and development toward the final good. Some merely travel, having no aim, direction, destination or purpose. Without guidance they just travel along the way and in varying degrees pick up such things as will please the eye, tickle vanities, satisfy hunger, quench thirst, and satisfy passions. And when the end draws nigh they are but a little closer to their proper destination than when they started. Some have totally lost the way. On the other hand, there are some who chart their courses, make wise decisions, and in a large measure achieve their goals and reach a happy des- tination. May we strive to be the latter, to make the best of what we have and our school better than before. Don Birdie Acerson Polly Bowerman, Irene Wilcox, Betty Bums, Freta Lilly, Mildred Wilson 10 Executive Council The main purpose of a high school is to turn out responsible, educated young adults. Govern- ment in a school is also geared to do this. I am pleased to have been a part of our student govern- ment, and I know it will be many, many years before I forget my fellow students. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you. Barbara Brock S. B.
