The school bell echoes far out in the valley. It tolls a song of years for me and you. A haunting song of happy, carefree learning To reach a goal in life worth striving for! A song of love and hope and tender yearning For all the cherished dreams life holds in store. As we watch the shadows lengthen on the mesa, Time will toll the school bell of the years; Still calling Senior classes to commencement, And ring out gladly with the victors' cheers! He's never let a floor go unswept or a chair go unmended for nine- teen years. He has worked without ceasing, willingly cleaned up after the dances. This beautiful building we call ours would not be as beautiful, if it were not for his faithful work not only in keeping the halls clean but helping the student body as well. We wish to extend to you in this small way, our sincerest appreciation for making these past years enjoyable as well as fruit- able. To a helpful and understanding teacher who has rendered every service possible to uphold the spirits of Green River High School; to one who encouraged us in all our understandings, and who in her many years at Green River has taught us willingly, faith- fully and with fullest capacity. She has always been something special to the girls in their Pep Club work; always willing to put up with playful moods and pranks uncomplaining! Let this be just a small token of our appreci- ation towards you and your work. We, the seniors as a group, will Mrs. Shaner our shattered nerves, Mr. Murray our patience (we used all his), Mr. Ramsay a vacation from the junior high, Mr. Svedin another pair of squeeky shoes, Mr. Mrs. Rachele our school books to be used in summer school, Mrs. Thomas a new ink pen to write next year's tardy excuses, Mr. Tucker our ability to stay single, Mr. Weber a fireproof wastebasket, the cooks an automatic dishwasher, and Mr. Spadafora a new bus and a pair of ear muffs. We will the juniors our carefree ways and our place in the lunch line, the sophomores our ways of doing things, and the power to act grown-up, and the freshmen our boldness.
