Oglevie has so adeptly and conscientiously served us as school secretary, we, the senior class, proudly dedicate this fifteenth volume of the TIGER to Mr. and Mrs. Oglevie. Progressive school needs a man at its head who is capable of creating and working out plans for the good of the school. This very talent and ability is found in our superintendent whose work in connection with the school has been of untold value to the students and to the entire commun- ity. His consecrated work has made possible a greatly improved school curriculum and the construction of a beautiful new school building. Mr. Oglevie labors diligently to effect and make accessible advantages that motivate students in the field of education. He spurs many students into realizing the importance of learning, and he reflects confidence in those students. With his profecting personality and keen sense of humor he has captured the students' hearts as he has instilled in them the basic true values of general living as well as those of education. Without doubt, many more exciting and fruitful high school days will be pleasantly enjoyed under his able leadership. Such a school of high standards requires also an able secretary. For four years wks. Oglevie has been a shin ng example of the cheerful, versatile secretary that every school should be fortunate enough to possess. She is highly accomplished in dealing with the students, the faculty and the public. More than once we have noticed how graciously she has served in capacities beyond the call of duty. She has soothed many children with little brusied knees and temporarily broken hearts evolving from one sort of mishap or another. During many a busy moment, she has been inter- rupted by some student or faculty member, but she willingly and diplo- matically has delayed her own current work to assist each person calling upon her for extra services. Yes, the students are exceedingly greatful to have Mr. and Mrs. Oglevie so thoroughtly active in these most important positions. Appreciation The seniors of 196A-'65 express their sincerest appre- ciation to Mr. Jack Chambers, high school principal, for his concern over their well-being at all times. They are well aware of the value received from his unfeigned guidance and understanding. Thank You The 196k-'65 senior class members wish to thank Mrs. Robert Harlan for donating so unselfishly of her time to seeing that the Tiger was correctly assembled. e credit for the production of a good annual goes primarily to her. ,A .K xv E? 2 -iifz xy, Ax M, ,M M :gin ffm, Mm, - f Administration Clarence Mahin, President Virgil Oglevie, Superintendent Clarence Mahin, President, Jin Carter, Max Elliott, Wilfred Purchase, John Harvey Jr., Paul Neitzert, Virgil Oglevie, Superintendent The board of education is pleased to have this opportunity to congratulate the Senior Class and their faculty advisor, Mrs. Harlan on the production of this years nT1ger,' It shows through words and pictures another year of work and pleasure at Green Ridge High School, and while at the present time you may feel the work far outweighs the pleasure, the future will bring many pleasant memories. We are now nearing the end of that twelve year period of wonder-filled years, Along with the education came many glorious and exciting times bubbling with glamour and entertainment. Fortunate indeed are we, to have had Mr. Jack Chambers for sponsor of our senior class. We shall always be appreciative of his fine counseling and his geniality both as our principal and our sponsor. Guiding us through the past ten years as our superintendent, Hr. Virgil Oglevie has been exceedingly generous in giving us excellent leadership. We are particularly grateful for his deep interest in us as individuals and for his keen sense of humor which so often has lifted us from moments of despair to moments of cheer. Nine of today's seniors were fortunate enough to make the entire educational trip--Terry Yunt, Bonnie Ransdell, Larry Martin, John Lange, Wanda Hancock, Sharlette Durrill, Carolyn Easter, Phyllis Butterwick, and Ann Arnett. Through the years we have seen many dear friends come and go to other schools, other states, and this year to another continent. Shirley Freeman has spread her wings to far away Australia. Betwixt and between the first grade and high school Charles Elliott, Ronald Williams, Ronald Heinaman, and John O'Donlel joined our forces. Yes, we have seen much accomplished in our four high school years. Jim Johnson, Patricia Fiedler, and Ann Porter, who arrived our freshman year have contributed everything from high intellect to fun andifrolie. During thi! good year Sharlette Durrill and Charles Elliott each received a music letter. We were well represented in both music and athletic activities. With the arrival of our sophomore year we found ourselves a year older, and more or less, a year wiser. Certainly our share of recognitions and honors were bestowed upon us. Pat Fiedler was selected by the faculty to attend the Sophomore Pilgrimage. Pat achieved distinction by being the recipient of one of the finest tributes a high school student can receive, the Citizenship Award. Wanda Hancock received the much sought-after Jcsten's Homemaking Award, thus pronouncing her as the best homemaker of the year. John Lange, Ann Porter, and Sharlette Durrill continued our fine stream of recognitions by performing brilliantly in sports, and Sharlette was chosen for one of the cheerleaders. Phyllis Butterwick, Charles Elliott, and Sharlette Durrlll lettered in music. Joining us were Gene Mills, Shirley Freeman, Gary Bowlin, and George Dotson. Our junior year too we happily received numerous honors--in athletics, music, and dramatics. John Lange lettered in both basketball and softballg Ann Porter in cheerleading, volleyball, and softball: Phyllis Butterwiok in volleyball, and Pat Fiedler in cheerleading. Charles Elliott, Gene Mills, and Sharlette Durrill lettered in music. Wanda Hancock again received a coveted honor, this time the Crisco Homemaking Trophy, awarded the lost out- standing Home Economics student. Jim Scott, who has participated in both sports and music activities joined us this year. Pat Fiedler and Jim Scott were our Carnival King and Queen Candidates. The Junior-Senior Play, Chea er gg the Dozen was quite successfully produced with the help of Larry HIFFIET' yIIIs'B5Ft:rwick, Jim Scott, Gene Hills, Ronald Williams and Shirley Freeman, ass istant director . The grand finale of this junior year was the Junior-Senior banquet, whose theme was 'Stairway to the Stars.' This, our senior year, we are sorry to have lost four of our classmates. We are happy, however, to have added one, Herman Vcllmer. How as we are near the end of our high school days and are at the threshold of adult life, we hope that our futures will be even markedly better than our paste, for we fully realise that true happiness is achieved by setting higher goals and standards as we learn of them and by striving to move constantly forward in progress. As graduation time approaches and leaves, we shall often recall many glorious days spent at dear ol' Green Ridge High. I! Ronald Williams F.F.A l I 0 0 THE FUTURE The year is 1985. Terry Yunt and his assistant, Gary Bowlin, who are making people's lives more enjoyable by telling fortunes with cards, are ready to make their first dime of the morning. This brain storm swooped upon them while they were playing cards in study hall during their years at Green Ridge High. On Monday morning, George Dotson is the first puzzled person wanting to know what the future has in store. As Terry and Gary gaze through the magic cards, they find that George will soon make his second million by saving tips that he has received for helping little ole ladies across the busy streets of Green Ridge. Carolyn Easter, Terry reveals will donate to George the last dime for his two million. This is her last dime, I might add. The second person to saunter in for the enlightenment of Terry and Gary is Charles Elliott. He is now an agriculture instructor who seems to have the problem of receiving strange gifts from Wanda Hancock's two girls. Wanda always wanted to be in F.F.A. Now she is seeing to it that her daughters enjoy the privilege. Terry and Gary are baffled when Charles asks what the next gift will be. Finally Terry reports that the cards simply cannot, with certainty, predict the exact future gifts of the girls, who are so much like their mother--unpredictable Even after being out of school for twenty years, Shirley Freeman Still has the same problem. Her question is Uwho will it be Saturday night-- Bill, Jim, or John?H This question truly stumps Terry, Gary, and the cards. Gary predicts that Ronnie Heinaman the dare devil driver, and his back seat driver, Larry Martin, will win another trophy for beating a train to the crossing by only one second. While waiting for the customers, Terry reveals his views into the future of Sharlette Durrill, Gene Mills, and John Lange. John becomes a famous basketball playervbecause of his ability to look down through the hoop. Sharlette Uurrill and Gene Mills are now known as the BED BUGS, a famous new singing team. Terry peers dramatically into the cards to find out what John O'Doniel, Bonnie Ransdell, and Ronald Williams, are up to. He finds that Ronald slips on a bannana peel and breaks his little toe. Doctor John and his nurse, Bonnie, are setting it for him. Jim Scott, the owner of HYou Smash Em and We'll Fix Em,n enters to ask Gary what he can do about Ann Porter, his head mec- hanic, she continues spending all the company's profit on bubble gum. This one really stumps the cards. When Jim Johnson, a noted policeman arrives, he asks Terry who his next victim of arrest will be. Terry relates that it will be Phyllis Butterwick, charged with speeding, she will be racing llO miles per hour in a lOO mile per hour zone. Jim then desires to know who the judge will be. Gary predicts that he will be Judge Ronnie Durrill. Judge Durrill will go easy on Phyllis this time as he recalls the fun he has had driving. I As the day wears on, the famous secretary, Pat Fiedler, appears and asks Gary how she can squeeze a salary raise from her new boss, Herman Vollmer The cards offer a serious piece of advice by sug- gesting that she invent something unique and open a business of her own. They advise her to invent a pushhutton device to make people grow tall. Terry says that a new T.V. show this coming season will be HSail Along with Shipps.u The star will be our own Margaret Shipps. Ann Arnett will appear on the show as a bus girl. Ann became exper- ienced in the work during high school. Night is setting in On Terry and Gary, who aren't used to night life, must close their shop to be ready tomorrow for another day of fun with the cards.
