Harlan, Sponsor, Duane Brownfield, Linda Taverner, Jim Durrill, Jim Reed, Carol Templeton, and Larry Brown DEDICATIO We the Seniors of 1962, do hereby dedicate our yearbook to this school building, which is in its last year of service as we have reached our last year to need its services. We know that the new building will be more beautiful and convienent for the students, but we feel that the education itself will not change with the building and the spirit of HOld Green Ridge Highn will remain. In years to come, we hope that our class will be remembered as being the last to graduate from this building. We wish to express our appreci- ation to you Mrs. Harlan, for your considerate guidance and thoughtfull- ness throughout the editing of this yearbook. THANK YOU PPREC IATION Thank you, Mr. Chambers, for the patient guidance you have given to us throughout our highschool years. THE SENIOR CLASS of 1962 ADMINIS TRA TION ' SU PERINTENDENTS MESSAGE The Senior Class of 1962 is to be com- gratulated for the publication of this edition of the HTigerH. In the years to come this annual will become more endearing to you as you spend moments reminiscing these many high school experiences. As we approach the end of twelve glorious years at G.R.H.S. we recall that 14 entered the ship together and have survived all the storms. They are Carl Arnett, Larry Brown, Duane Brownfield, Jimmy Durrill, Mickey Eby, Helen Edmundson, Wayne Elliott, J.C. Morgan, Jim Reed, Errol Smith,Larry Street, Carol Templeton, J.B. Vannoy and Peggy White. Through the years others have entered our class. They are Mickey Alfrey, Garnett Blaylock, Junior Gorrell, Glenda Hunter, Chriss Lemler, Larry Lewis, Sharon Martin, Clifford Needy, Everett Pottorff, Jimmy Richwine, Kenneth Schieszer, Patty Scotten,Linda Smith, Linda Tavener, and Larry Yunt. GREEN FRESHMEN This was our first real important year. As it turned out it was very eventful. It was a great honor to have the carnival Queen selected from our class. Also that year we had five girls in our class on the volleyball team and six boys on the basketball team. SILLY SOPHGMORES This year we were well represented in the sports field, as we were in every year. FLIGHTY JUNIORS Out Junior year had us jumping from place to place trying to remember all the things we were supposed to be doing. Our play, HFinders Creepersn, was our first mixed up moment. We will remember that night as long as we live. The second mixed up moment was the Junior-Senior Banquet, HThe Last Round Upn. We all had to work hard to get it completed, we felt it was worth the effort. MIGHTY SENIORS Some classmates have come and some have gone through the years until we now have a proud class of 29 in this our final year. The Senior olay was, Hmountain Galu, a hill- billy Comedy, We attended the Junior-Senior Banquet as very Dignified Seniors. Then comes our last event at G.R.H.S. Graduation! There will be many mixed emotions this night, but after all is over there will be happiness throughout. We say farewell to G.R.H.S. as it is now, for when we return, there will be little to remind us of our twelve years here. CLASS PROPHECY 1961-62 Carol Ann Templeton, first woman president of the U.S.A., CUnion of South Australiaj, is campaigning for her second term. As she is driving into Melborne, she has a collision with a kangaroo. A partolman arrives at the scene in car 41, and he is the one and only Larry Yunt. After investigating thoroughly, he sends for a kangaroo doctor, Ph. Dr. Larry E. Brown and his hopping assistant, Linda Tavener. Dr. Brown now has a very becoming beard. We knew he never did like to shave. As Pres. Templeton is in the wrong, Officer Yunt takes her to criminal court. Preceding her case is the people vs Larry Bob Lewis. He was captured and beat up by Marshal Duane Brownfield, the terror of the city, while stealing watermelons from Carl Arnett's pig farm,gPorkers Inc. After Larry Bob is sentenced to life by Judge Larry Street, who is now married and has eleven kids, Carol Ann's case is presented. Private detectives Snooper and Blabber, alias Everett Pottorff and Wayne Elliott investigate Carol Ann's case. When it seems as though she will be convicted, Gov- ernor Chriss Lemler intercedes and gives her a pardon. Chriss always had a kind heart for girls in distress. Downcast from this experience, she enters the nearby night spot, HThe Innertube.H She recognizes the bartender as Garnett Blaylock, who is still trying to accumulate enough money to get his old Ford in running condition. He informs Carol Ann that the proprietress is Parry Scotten who is engaged for the fourth time. Patty never could stay with one man very long. As a jazzy song entitled HSilly Movies Always Make Me Laugh,H begins, Carol Ann looks around to see that the piano player is Mickey Eby. Carol Ann's car was demolished so she took it to the Oldsmobile dealer, Jimmy Richwine, to trade it in. Jimmy sells her a new '82 model which was tinted to match her hair. While she is trying out her new car, she passes a teacher, Glenda Hunter. She stops to talk to Glenda. She immediately tells Carol Ann about a new T V show, HThe Tall Man,H starring Kenneth Schieszer. She also tells her about the top pro-basketball player, Junior Gorrell. Junior has made famous the left-handed shot. A dog runs past us'folJowed closely by Sharon Martin the chief dog catcher. We knew Mart was always running around in circles in high school, but we thought she was past that stage. It is found that the dog belongs to Linda Smith the prominent missionary from China, who is well known for the religious spirituals composed. Linda is here visit- ing Reverend J.C. Morgan. One of the historical highlights of the area is an old castle on a hill where Jim HCur1yH Reed experiments on a hair straightener. We knew he didn't like curly hair, but we didn't think he would go that far. He has in his employ- ment Helen Edmundson, who has become an expert ghost chaser. In the dungeon of this castle is Mickey Alfrey, who is now the ex-president of the Austrailian Lonely Hearts Club. The next stop is a big department store owned and man- aged by J.B. Vannoy. With those initials we knew he would go far. Carol Ann is just in time for a private showing of red flannel underwear, modeled by Jimmy Durrill. Carol Ann sees an old friend,Peggy White, in the false fingernail department. She broke one in her last wrestling match. Peggy has become the top woman wrestler. Peggy tells Carol Ann that in her last match she was thrown out of the ring and landed in the lap of the retired millionaire,Errol Smith. Errol made his million while he was young. He is 'nQW,the towns most eligible bachelor. As Carol Ann is leaving Melborne, she sees a hitch- hiker. When she notices that it is the noted girl scout, Clifford Needy, she stops and gives him a rideg and they begin reminiscing about the good old days at G.R.H.S. W It may seem odd that all of these people showed up in Helborne but, after all, they were all in Green Ridge. We rv, 150 lbgyhn' X . . 'S fmfwyn 1' Zag ' 'W 'ta' ag XX?
