Piano Club The piano club was organized this year through the efforts of several interested students and the sponsor teacher Mrs. Sandra Wilson. Composed of members from the piano classes the students gave recitals in the fall and the spring. Members, Seated: Vidallia Lewis, Rynecia Whitehead. Standing: Christa Thomas, Trinetta Gray, Gentry Vinson, Mrs. Wilson, Clifton Roberts, Kenneth Scott, Tina Alexander. Kaisha Dixon. Jazz Band The Jazz Band was another new group in the music department this year. It was composed of students who had an interest in jazz and wanted to play that type music in addition to the regular marching band. They, too, were an immediate hit with the students. Members were Dertrich Phillips, Derrick Cooper, Sebastian Edwards, Nara Dunlap, Refus Combs, Vincent Forcheon, Lezeka Armstrong, Levert Kissie, William Tyler, Lome! The Green Oaks band made great strides during the year. Not only was it a big hit dur¬ ing half time at football games and pep rallies but on other occasions as well. They par¬ ticipated in parades in Natchitoches during the Christmas Lighting, New Orleans for Mardi Gras and several events. The long hard drills and practice sessions of late summer paid great dividends for the marching Giants. Pictured left are Mr. Jackson with Drum Major, Damon Davis and Drum Majorette Veronica Jackson. The band goes through some intricate steps during halftime.

String Class Members of the string class included Standing: Jac¬ queline Thomas, Repunda Jones, Treshell Murff, Cynthia Murff and Demarcus Williams. The class was taught by Mr. Lorenza Williams. They gave several performances during the year. The members played for the Christmas and Spring concerts were a delight to the audiences. The Choir was given a new direction this year. Mrs. Sandra Wilson, who is in her second year as choir directress, was very selectable in naming persons to perform with the group. They received excellent ratings in competition in local and regional levels. They joined the band and orchestra in giving the Spr¬ ing musical.
