Elites The Elites, a service club, was one of the busiest during the year. They worked a tutorial program for the area elementary schools, sponsored the Calendar Girl pageant and many community projects. Mrs. B. Bennett, the sponsor, organized the club in 1979. The Green Oaks band made great strides during the year. Not only was it a big hit dur¬ ing half time at football games and pep rallies but on other occasions as well. They par¬ ticipated in parades in Natchitoches during the Christmas Lighting, New Orleans for Mardi Gras and several events. The long hard drills and practice sessions of late summer paid great dividends for the marching Giants. Pictured left are Mr. Jackson with Drum Major, Damon Davis and Drum Majorette Veronica Jackson. The band goes through some intricate steps during halftime.
