Students Against Drugs Students Against Drugs (SAD) was organized at Green Oaks in 1983 under the supervision of Mrs. J. Wagner. Its main purpose is to discourage the use of drugs in our schools. The club participated in a “Get a Good Ex¬ ample” contest sponsored by Concerned Businessmen’s Association of America and ranked as of the fifty finalist in a field of seven¬ teen hundred schools throughout America. Officers were: D ' Andre Powell, Aubra Gantt, Jacquline Player, Byrone Samuels and Jeorgia Washington. Members pictured below. 4-H Club Ms. Ethel Holmes and Mrs. Melanie Thibodeaux, spon¬ sors of the 4-H Club, and the members worked very hard throughout the year fulfilling the purposes of the organiza¬ tion. In addition to their state and regional projects, the members delivered boxes to the needy families at Thanksgiving and Christmas. For Easter they delivered tissues to members of a nursing home. Members of the 4-H Club are pictured below, Seated: Veronica Jackson, Lashunda Bradley, Jacqueline Player, Marcus Hall, Lisa Cathron, and Lezeka Armstrong. Stan¬ ding: Ms. Ethel Holmes, Marci Brown, Lasonya Kelly, Stacy Benjamin, Angela Conway, Aubra Gantt, Linda Car- roll, Clifton Roberts, Georgia Washington, Lashunda Young, Tara Dotie, and Mrs. M. J. Thibodeaux. Officers were: Jacquline Player, Veronica Jackson. Lashunda Bradley, Marcus Hall, Lezeka Armstrong, and Lisa Cathom. Speech and Drama students joined together to form a Drama Club at Green Oaks. This provided an opportunity for the development of skills in public speaking, ac¬ ting, and producing plays. Each year we look forward for their major production. They also took part in several tournaments. Go Express Staff The newspaper staff worked diligently during the year to put forth those issues that were important to the student body. The students involved in the pro¬ duction of the paper learned all facts of how to run a school newspaper. Mrs. M. Glover, sponsor, has high hopes that from this group will come an outstanding journalist. The EXPRESS publishes five papers with the final edition dedicated to the class of’88. Beginn¬ ing last school year, the staff began organizing and planning. The selections of editors and associate editors was the intiated steps in what became an interesting, fun loving, educational experience.
