Egalitarians With the major thrust of seeking to improve scholarship and general well being of students and the surrounding community, the Egalitarians worked especially hard this year on several projects. The Egalitarians is a service organization whose member¬ ship is composed of Juniors and Seniors. With their sister organization THE ELITES, they give quarterly recognition to students in each class for academic excellence. Mr. Wesley, sponsor, established the club in 1980. We engaged in a variety of activities during the year. Some were fun, others not so much fun. However, we enjoyed them none the less. In January, Mrs. Myers chaperoned a group of us on a trip to Washington, D. C. where we participated to the Close Up pro¬ gram. Close Up is designed to give high school students from across the nation a first hand view of how our nation’s government works. This year’s Close Up participants are pictured at left Camille Phillips, Cutchess Wynn, Byron Caples, Kimeka Maeshack, Kormanessa Peterson, and Mrs. L. Myers, (not pictured, Primette Braden). Class time presented the opportunity to catch up on the latest news, purpose for the next class or just stare at the photographs. At the other time we just stopped on the shade for a brief rest.
