Below: Coach Giant Baseball Keyymen on the Giant team were outfielder Darnell Green, Joe Holt pitcher, and back-up catcher. Darnell’s hot hand at the bat created an excellent RBI average. He was also a back-up catcher. Joe was third base man when he was not pitching. James Taylor was probably the most outstanding player of the year. He was named to the District All-Star Team. When James did not pitch he was third baseman or catcher. As you can see most of the team were really versatile players and this helped to make sucess. 92

Under the coaching of Hayes, Gipson the Giant baseball team enjoyed the best season ever. For the past several years the Giants had struggled and remained in the cellar in district play. This year, however, ex¬ perience and a positive at¬ titude brought about a winn¬ ing situation. Pictured at left are Michael Mitchell, out¬ fielder, Shauncy Mitchell, short stop, and A.C. Whitaker first baseman. Pictured below are Paul Whitfield, Pitcher, Eric Har¬ ris, second baseman, and Darnell Green outfielder.
