This year the band attended several festivals. They received several Excellent ratings in competition. They also participated in city and district Battle of the Bands. They ended the year with a trip to Florida. 1985-86 Section leaders were—Latasa Spearman, Angela Hascoe, Damon Davis, Robert Myers, Serrick Smith, Anthony Wilson, Roy Gipson and Frederick Ellis. He is a graduate of Grambling State University and came to Green Oaks with a wide range of experience in teaching music and leading bands.
